Price Fluctuations

Hi Everyone

We are keen to travel on the NCL Epic on 12th October (about 11 weeks away). In the 3 days between quotation and booking the price has gone up £300. There are loads of cabins left but now we are stuck with making the decision between booking at the higher price or hoping that the cruise prices go down again closer to sailing. I know no-one has a crystal ball but how likely are cruise prices to fall within the 12 weeks prior to sailing and would it be too risky to secure the lower flight prices now and hope for the best with booking a cabin at a lower price closer to the cruise?

There is no way to answer your question. As you said, no one can predict what will happen with prices. The fact that prices have gone up would seem to imply it is selling fast.

Not sure how you can tell there are lots of cabins left. That is not common public info. Because you can see some cabins available isn't the final answer, as you can't tell how many GTY cabins there are booked.

You have partially answered your question by referring to the lower flight prices now. While you MIGHT secure lower cruise fare by waiting, you are just and likely to offset the savings with higher air. If you think you have a reasonable deal, book both now. If you are a gambler, hold off and see what happens in mid-August (and perhaps mid-September) and be ready to stay home in October.
