Jasjas Posted July 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2014 We will be in Seaward a day before our cruise in Sept 2015 and would love to visit a dag sledding farm. Any suggestions...and how would one get from our hotel to the farm ? We will be arriving by Alaska rail from Anchorage at about midday. I read on the internet about Seavey's Ididarod farm ? Thanks. mapleleaves Posted July 23, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2014 I have no personal experience with SEAVEY's but I've read positive comments in trip reports Seward has a town web site with info on excursions, activities, etc. http://cmdev.seward.com/list/category/dog-sled-tours-22 If the vendor doesn't pick up at your hotel, there are taxis in Seward. Also in the town web site.
mollanjake Posted July 23, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2014 I believe Seavey offers package tours as well as just kennel tours. I would check out their website. Turning Head Kennels is in Seward as well. I did not visit the kennel, but we used them for Helicopter/Glacier dog sledding. Everyone with the company was very nice. Good Luck
Budget Queen Posted July 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 24, 2014 I have been to Seavey's and they do run a nice tour and cart ride. My kids enjoyed it. :)
laughing husky Posted July 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2014 Seavey's is a good outfit...You can have your choice of going up on a glacier and having a "real" sled ride under very safe conditions, or you can go to their kennel just outside of Seward and do a cart ride and have a kennel tour as well as play with puppies. They will also pick you up and bring you there...look at the Seavey's web page and you will find all of the information..http://www.ididaride.com....They are a good group of people who are working down there. ilgander Posted July 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 25, 2014 We did the Seavey's Real Alaska Tour July 18 and it was a great experience. Very easy, too, they pick you up at the Alaska RR depot and drop you back off, I believe they did pick up and drop offs from area hotels also.
