WS Question

Another fact is that these short getAway cruises must be booked separately on the West Coast. They aren't offered as a combination like they do in Florida.

We knew nothing about the window suites. We have only done 1 cruise on the Crown Princess which doesn't have them, so when we were booking our upcoming cruise on the Caribbean Princess we were wanting to book a mini suite which we had had before and liked, as normal suites are out of our price range. But we looked at suites out of interest, as you do. When we clicked the link to go and look which suites were available my husband noticed that there were these suites at exactly the same price as a mini suite. The normal suites were almost £800($1200+ ish) more for the 9 nights. Wow, a chance to have the suite experience for much less money, though no balcony, which I will miss I admit. It is the smallest of the WS but we are so looking forward to all the extras. I guess we will then only cruise in suites;)

Love, love the WS & yes it counts as two cruise credits. We have been in a WS four times now - the location is perfect, room is perfect for longer cruises.

 

It sounds like you love the Window Suites. Do you mind not having a balcony? While living the suite life sounds great there does seem to be a pretty major trade off in not having a balcony.

I will let you know. We have one in January on the Grand. My thinking is that these are the former casino windows which had beautiful views, so they ought to work for water watching. Promenade is up just one, so we could get to the air fairly quickly if we want to. I have this new goal to try out all categories of cabins (yes, DH is rolling his eyes) so this is part of that plan.:) (I'm doing an Ocean porthole soon, too.)

I have sailed in a few window suites (for the cost of a mini). I am not a balcony lover so this was a great trade off for me. My cruising buddy needs a balcony, but is willing to be in a window suite for Sabatini's breakfast. Guess it is worth the trade off.

Actually the windows were cut out and new ones installed.

There are pictures floating around here on CC that show the outside of the ship and the gaping holes the welders cut during dry dock. Probably had to do this with all the ships as I doubt the casino windows would have lined up for what they needed. ;)

No we do not mind having a balcony. One our last cruise (the 12 night Med) we were in a MS and relaxed in the balcony for 10 minutes. In the WS you can always go up one deck and lots of nice chairs to look out on the ocean.

Well, they are still at the same level with the sea, which is what I meant, I think. I like to be close to the water.

We just got off the CB and enjoyed our first WS. We did not miss the balcony which was a bit of a surprise to me as I thought I might. We were so busy we didn't have time. The extra space was wonderful and the location was very convenient. My favorite is still an aft suite but the WS was very nice.

Bring a power strip. Other than that, window suites rock!
