Casino Getting Cheap With Comps

After contacting the casino last week about comps for our upcoming cruise, this is what I was told:

 

"Our comps for table players are based off losses, we give 10% back of losses in cash back".

 

Used to be if you played an average $25 a hand for at least 4 hours a day, you got things like the "drinks on us" cards and casino cash on your next cruise. I guess I played enough but didn't loose enough.

 

I start every cruise with a large line of credit and play every day till the wee hours of the morning (I cruise to gamble) with at least $25 a hand. Last cruise I played enough to get goodies in our room every night, wine at dinner and a night at the steakhouse all compliments of the casino (which tells me I played to the hosts liking). Every other cruise before this upcoming one, I have gotten casino cash and a drinks on us card.

 

If this is the way Carnival casinos are going, I'll soon be on NCL who treats their casino players much better and ties my Vegas points with their players club.

 

Sorry for the rant but I think Carnival is not seeing how big this segment of passenger's is and don't get me started on smoking (and I'm not a smoker). If you chase both of these markets away, watch you're cruise fares go up.

that may make sense -- as my wife has basically paid off each of our cruises with cruise casino winnings, and never gets any casinodeals -- while i donate about $100 a day and got a $25 casino credit on our next cruise.

 

i still prefer her winning $5k or more per cruise over me getting free play --

NCL does offer better perks for their CAS program than CCL's Player's Club. That is why our next 2 cruises will be on NCL.

First thing that Carnival must change --

 

The call you must make to CAS to beg for comps, drink cards, cash.

 

It is so demeaning to a good customer!

 

They should be contacting us.

 

The persons answering the phone never make it a nice experience. Always a disappointment.

 

Going to RC or Norwegian soon.

Yea I usually win 2 or 3k every cruise. Don't get much. But I'll take the money.

I never gamble enough to get comps, but I have been much happier on NCL than Carnival. I have won much more often on NCL and they have a more land casino odds for craps, 3-4-5x. Craps in my game of choice!

Wow, this does not make much business sense. If I owned a cruise line, you would be my target audience. My tier status would be based on spending and playing. If you got money coming out of your pocket, I would have the cheapest cruise line for you. The lucky guy who won the jackpot is every bit as valuable which is why they're comped in the Vegas Casino's as well.

I was on the Valor last month. Before sailing I had received two mailings from Carnival each with a $75 perforated, pull off, Casino Credit. When I took the two of them to the Casino Cash to pick up the cash, the clerk told me that there was a limit of one per cruise. When I asked, "well then why did they send me two mailings", I just received a blank stare as I was handed $75.

 

 

When I came home the following week, I received a mailing from Norwegian's CAS for a complimentary cabin with two drink cards good for any one of 5 different ships this Fall. I am sailing on the Norwegian Sun in December.

 

Norwegian's Casino program is much better.

Nice! We did a 10 day on the Sun last year and enjoyed it very much. I think I was about even in the casino. The casino staff was great though, lots of fun and very friendly.
