brunolvr Posted August 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 4, 2014 My daughter who works for one of the local TV stations said the Grand was returning to Seattle because of a mechanical issue. Also the NCL Pearl had to return to Seattle for a medical emergency. However they did not re-dock, just came into Elliott Bay and evacuated the passenger by boat. Not a good day for those leaving Seattle today!
AdamKnows Posted August 4, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted August 4, 2014 My aunt is on the ship and she confirms that the captain said that it is a propulsion problem. I hope it is an easy fix!
Bentley5700 Posted August 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 4, 2014 Assuming that all other systems are working, I prescribe for the passengers a few stiff drinks and a thick steak. Worse things could happen. Seriously, we have plans to board the Grand next Sunday so please keep us posted on events. Thanks.

Colo Cruiser Posted August 4, 2014 #20 Share Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Seattle Times claims the Grand was towed back to the pier, is there any truth to that? It appeared she headed back under her own power. Anyone see tugs? Glad things appear to be fixed. Edited August 4, 2014 by Colo Cruiser
Cabunit Posted August 4, 2014 #21 Share Posted August 4, 2014 According to her AIS reports posted on the "Ship Finder" application, she is just west of Vancouver Island in the vicinity of Tofino - headed for Ketchikan at 20 knots with an ETA of 8/5 @ 14:00. Looks like she might have been back in port for around three hours. Sent from my iPhone using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app
