My daughter who works for one of the local TV stations said the Grand was returning to Seattle because of a mechanical issue.

 

Also the NCL Pearl had to return to Seattle for a medical emergency. However they did not re-dock, just came into Elliott Bay and evacuated the passenger by boat.

 

Not a good day for those leaving Seattle today!:eek:

My aunt is on the ship and she confirms that the captain said that it is a propulsion problem. I hope it is an easy fix!

Assuming that all other systems are working, I prescribe for the passengers a few stiff drinks and a thick steak. Worse things could happen.:cool:

Yes, please if anyone hears anything please keep us posted. We are scheduled to cruise on the Grand in 2 weeks to Alaska and hope it's nothing serious! :confused:

According to Marinetraffic.com, she's now underway. Just left the pier in Seattle.

According to her AIS reports posted on the "Ship Finder" application, she is just west of Vancouver Island in the vicinity of Tofino - headed for Ketchikan at 20 knots with an ETA of 8/5 @ 14:00.

There is no indication of that on the Marine Traffic vessel track. Looks like she might have been back in port for around three hours.
