Question about alternative dining options on the Solstice

We'll be sailing on the Solstice for the first time in a few weeks. When we sailed on the Infinity a few years back, a section of the buffet was roped off at dinnertime, and you could choose freshly prepared, made-to-order meals with table service. Many of the options offered were the same or similar to those being served in the main dining room, but the atmosphere was more casual, and the service was much faster. There was no surcharge for that alternative dining. Does anyone know if a similar dining alternative is offered on the Solstice? If so, is there a surcharge?

We're scheduled for Anytime dining, but after reading how closely packed the tables are together in the main dining rooms, we're hoping that alternative options are available.

We were on the Solstice last fall and just got off the Eclipse did not see any roped off area in the buffets at dinner with table service. The buffet was open and we ate the one evening. It was quiet and almost empty.

Bistro on 5 is also more relaxed but the menu is just crepes, salad & panni's and there is a $7pp charge.

This option is no longer offered.

Has now been replaced across the line with... Select (anytime) - Alternative (no extra charge) - and Specialty Dining (up charge)

See the Ship's website / deck plans for more info on what is available when / hours

As for reports about crowding... I think that is more an issue on the older ships that were solsticized (M Class) and now offer select dining vs the S Class ships which were designed this way from the fet go. Select Dining on the Solstice happens on the top floor of the MDR... Lots of room up there... Maybe someone will post a pic for you

Hope this helps,

Cheers!

The casual dining option was eliminated several years ago when the S class ships came out. They did increase the options in the buffet about the same time.

I have been on Solstice and will be on it again in three weeks. There are some areas in select area where tables are almost touching. There are some tables that are not close to each other, perhaps you can ask. You can also request a table sitting with others, they seem to have more room.
