kelib Posted August 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2014 First time to RCI, sailing Majesty on Labor Day weekend solo. Suggestions on what would be the best section of beach for me to head to. If there is an adult beach, that is what I would like. If not, someplace that is fairly quiet so I can read if I want, but still close enough for an ICAB (Ice Cold Adult Beverage) if wanted. Do you have to get the mats in advance, and are they limited to one location or can you take them anywhere. I also read somewhere that there were smaller clamshell type cabanas that you can reserve while on the ship. Anyone have any experience with them? thanks for your help
MattInFLL Posted August 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2014 People generally recommend to walk a little farther when you get off the ship towards the wave runner area if you want quieter areas that are still near food and drink. The quietest area is actually one that is walk to the right and hooks back, but farther away from food and drink. You gets mats at various locations. Cabanas are available ahead of time, sometimes, through cruise planner. Usually held for suites and diamond plus etc. But if you check when you get on board, may be available. The little canopy chair things, I believe, are available when you get to the island. If you google "cococay map" you will find the map that you will get on board and can see everything. The more colorful and detailed ones are the newest ones (cococay has changed over the years, and so earlier maps have less detail).
Clarea Posted August 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I'd try Barefoot Beach. That is where the clamshell cabanas are located. You can reserve those on the ship, at the Explorations desk.
Philly Steve Posted August 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2014 Avoid the beach area directly off the BBQ shed and you should be fine. :)
cb at sea Posted August 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2014 You can get a floating mat on the island...you do NOT have to reserve in advance! They have PLENTY! Yes..you may take it anywhere. Or, you can bring your own blow-up float, if you don't want to pay $14 for a mat!
