auntjoy036 Posted August 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2014 I'm thinking ahead to an Alaska cruise with my mother on the HAL Volendam next summer. I have nonceliac gluten intolerance. Most of the advice I've read for people with gluten issues is to choose fixed dining. I'd prefer anytime dining, both for more flexibility around shore excursions and for a small table on nights my Mom, who has hearing loss, doesn't want to strain to follow the conversation at a larger table. Have any of you made anytime dining work with special dietary needs? I understand one usually turns in her gluten-free order the night before. Would it work if I made our reservations for the next night at that time, so they knew when to plan for the food to be ready? (I'm sure much is prepared ahead and held warm, not finished at the last minute, too.) Please share with me whether and how special diet anytime dining worked for you. Thanks. cb at sea Posted August 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 9, 2014 If you contact their special needs dept, they will fix you up. MTD or Traditional...it's all the same kitchen and dining room...just let them know what you require.
