Thanks, I did call.. Turns out she calculated our play we are also offered a 20% off on another cruise.. Who knew?? They don't know what our offer from Mount Airy is as we haven't picked up the voucher yet.. Thanks for steering me in that direction…

Mikkar…. This is interesting and I forgot to mention it..

I was just on the phone with CAS. I was told that on our October cruise we earned enough points for a free cruise. I was never notified. Heres the catch, we sailed again in February and we apparently didn't play as much as we did in October which then brought our average down so thats why were only entitled to a 20% discount rather than a free cruise from CAS..

UGH… I missed a free cruise!!!!! Never knew… Thank you again so much for you advice.

I didn't know to check with CAS directly either until I read it on these boards. If you take your free cruise from the land based casino and show the same play as your October cruise, I'm sure you'll get the same offer from CAS as the one you missed. Just wait a couple of weeks after you return and give them a call.

Im laughing because we have been on so many NCL cruises but we sailed Celebrity in May and now again in Sept.. Perhaps NCL misses us….. Im assuming the category of the cabin will depend on how much you play?

The certificate is sponsored by the casino, not by CAS or NCL. Yes, you'll call CAS to redeem it, but it's a benefit of your play on land, not at sea.

The 20% is what CAS is willing to offer, based on your prior play at sea.

So you're being wooed by two different casinos, at different rates.

Ill take the free one although. I do think that if Mt. Airy gives us an inside cabin, it will cost a lot to upgrade to a balcony…

Now that's a very good point. It shouldn't cost THAT much, and frankly I'd call NCL and ask (no guarantees) whether they can use the certificate and top it up with an upgrade based on your prior onboard play.

Otherwise, I'd ask them to compare the upgrade cost based on the certificate, and also the cost based on the 20% discount.

That way you know you've covered all of the angles.

When I called CAS I got pricing for 3 different cruises, The upgrade was the same on all three cruises. $300 per person to upgrade to a balcony...

We have got many of this vouchers thru Caesars entertainment casinos in AC. This year we went on a 1 night to nowhere from NY in march and a 7 day to Bermuda from NY in june. We are already booked for thanksgiving this year and other feb/15. all comped from Casinos At Sea (CAS), the NCL department that runs the casinos.

about your offer, you will go to your casino, pick up the certificate and then call NCL CAS and they will give you all the info you need, no your casino (they do not know anything about it). what type of cabin you get it depends of your local casino level and also your play history at NCL casinos. anything from inside cabins to the heaven (good luck with last one). initially we were always offered inside cabins and now we are in a minisuite for our nov/14 cruise.

upgrades are totally up to you depending the extra cost. insurance as well and it is not part of your offer, that is additional out of pocket. you only will pay taxes and fees that depends of the length of the cruise, but for a 7 day is usually around $300 pp for the first 2.

what somebody mentioned about combining offers is that depends what NCL offers are running at the moment you book the cruise. for our feb/15 cruise we only qualify for an ocean view cabin (because is a longer cruise, 12 days) but that week NCL had free balcony upgrades so we book an OV and got a Balcony plus they also had OBC (onboard credit) so we got $30 OBC additionally. for our nov/14 cruise we got a $70 OBC because we are book in a higher category.

As an invited CAS guest you will get the free drinks cards for all the adults on the cabin. they are to be used only at the casino while you are playing, you just need to flag a waiter, they will look at the card and take you room key and swiped on they hand machine and go and get your drink, usually house drinks and beers. do not forget to tip the waiter and you will have a friend around you all night long, believe it or not many people do not tip them, i do not know if it is because they are free drinks. we always tip them $1 per drink and they always remember our names and what we are drinking, i just give them a smile and a hand sign and they will bring me my drink right away.

so, just go to your casino, pick up the certificate and then you can call NCL and make the decisions when you are at home and get all the info you need, just do not pass on it, it is a good offer. :):)

I forgot to mentioned a very important perk. You also will get priority check in and embarkation. Once you get to the port and pass security screening you ask for the CAS priority check and they will direct you to the express line.

When we asked about an upgrade to a balcony, they quoted us $300 per person, just like they did for Calyn2323. I asked if that rate would change if the price went down for the balcony cabins and they said no, the rate would always be $300. The upgrade to an oceanview was quite a bit less, I think it was $80 per person but they only had forward cabins available and I was concerned about the movement of ship and chose to stay in the mid ship inside cabin. This cabin was fine, it was just the two of us and once we stored everything away, there was enough room for us.

Hopefully if they combine our donations to Mt. Airy along with our NCL donations, I will get at least a balcony… Since DH is claustrophobic we need a balcony.

So, it sounds like if I want to upgrade, I should hold onto the voucher and wait for NCL to offer upgrades before I book…Am I right?

Did that include the taxes and port fees?

Mt. Airy gave us an inside and for a 7-day it came to approx $300/pp for 2 people without insurance or grats and free drinks in the casino. Their insurance was $29/pp and grats are 12/pp per day. To upgrade to a balcony it was an add'l $300/pp and the insurance charge would increase to $59/pp but grats stay the same. Upgrading to a ocean view was somewhere between $80/pp to $150/pp depending on the room. We also booked the BA for Thanksgiving. It will be our first time on NCL. We will also be at Mt. Airy on the 31st to pick up the certificate.

The last certificate listed 13 sailing to choose from and 1 was a 4 day and the other 12 were 7 days, all insides and included a Bahamas itin., a Bahamas & FL itin, a Bermuda, 3 Canade & NE sailings 6 Caribbean and 1 Mexican Riviera sailing. I think we got the certificate in Feb/Mar 2014 and the cruise had to be reserved by 5/8/14 and you had to sail by 3/8/15.

Hope this is helpful

I have good news for you, all the adults in your cabin will have free drink cards!

Cheers! :D

And along with the OP, thanks for that info. Of course now I have to worry about my 75 year old poker playing mom drinking more than one glass of wine per night lol.

So just confirming if this applies to land based casino freebies also or just for CAS bookings? Or because I used a voucher to book through CAS, I am considered a CAS priority check in? (Admit the cynical tax accountant in me says this is getting to be too good to be true lol).

Cheers!

Your offer has nothing to do with your play at Mt. Airy, other than to identify you as a likely candidate for CAS in the promotion that they are running. If you have already cruised (and gambled) with NCL CAS then they will consider your past CAS play when making an offer.

If you want to upgrade, ask them if they are offering anything when you talk to them. At the very worst, you can always pay for an upgrade: The cost of the upgrade will be the difference between the rate card for your offered cabin and the cabin you want as an upgrade.

Your "land based casino freebie" is a CAS offer. It's the result of a promotion they are running, using the land based casino's list of likely prospects (such as you).

So you will be able to use the CAS priority check in line, if it exists in your port of embarkation.

This unfortunately is patently incorrect.

The offer from the land-based casino is based on land-based play. I know this for a fact, following conversations with both my casino host at Caesars, AND with the head of Casinos At Sea, a couple of years ago when I had both CAS comps available AND a certificate from Caesars.

I escalated my conversation with them because I was a little miffed at the blackout dates which applied to the certificate, after I'd taken a trip to Windsor primarily to retrieve it.

The certificates are NO different than the hotel room comps and flight comps I get from Caesars, and have no bearing or impact on the offers CAS makes to me.

I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

Offers from land based casinos are usually because CAS wants to get proven players onboard. These offers maybe totally different than what CAS will offer you.

For example, I often get offers that will give me an inside from from Caesars/Harrahs. If I call CAS direct, I can get at least a balcony.

I am not sure if you agree with this, or are saying this is "patently incorrect"

Not arguing with you, just not sure what you are saying.

We absolutely love the Breakaway so if thats offered were in our glory, we don't even care where we go.. Your going to really like NCL, its os easy…

When I called to say we were going to be at Mt. Airy on the 31t, they didn't really know what I was talking about at first. Did you speak to Rich? There was so much noise in the background, Im not even sure where we need to go… Have you done this before? Maybe we'll catch you there..

I agree that's why CAS gives cabins to Caesars Marketing Dept. for distribution. My comment was that CAS is not directing who gets which certificates, that it's the Caesars Marketing Dept. which allocates them

'based on land play'.... as a reward to land players.... while CAS in turn is hoping to recruit those same players, but isn't deciding which ones they want.

Trying to rephrase:

CAS doesn't get Caesars' Total Rewards customer list and say Him, Her, Him, Him, Her, Her and Her - give them 3 day.... and Him, Her, Her, Her and Him get 7 day, etc. The certificates are distributed by Caesars according to Caesars' protocols (not CAS')

We had the same thing when we called the last time. They had a set up in the club that's inside the casino. Once you RSVP that you are going, when you get there they will have a brochure with a piece of paper that has your name and certificate # and a listing of the sailings. You don't make any reservations there, you take it home and call the CAS number on the sheet. When I called and asked about Thanksgiving on the BA I was kind of shocked that it wasn't a black out date and so was the women who booked for me. Since it is a Bahamas & FL cruise and leaving NY in late Nov we decided to stay with the inside, although I am nervous about the room being too small and we have never sailed inside before but with this itin. we didn't think we would get much use out of a balcony and for the price, I am willing to give it a try.

How does one verify this? I have a cruise coming up booked through CAS thanks to my local land-based casino. I recently received my e-docs. There's nothing in there that would indicate any sort of priority, so I was thinking that I didn't qualify.

You do not get any confirmation of that. As I said before, once you pass the security screening yo will encounter the NCL ladies, you tell them you are from CAS and they will look at their roasters and verify that your name is on that list and that's it, you are in, they will direct you to the next available agent.

It is not really a sign there saying priority check in like at the airports, (it actually is in New York, but only for the haven suites, they will go to the 3rd floor). is just that they will skip the lines for you, they just will open the ropes and let you go before all the other "common cruisers" (LOL LOL). We have cruised with CAS 8 times and that's what we have done in New York and Seattle, we really did not use it in Miami and Barcelona because we got there almost at closing time so was nobody in line, but I am pretty sure they do it in every port.

Last cruise from New York they gave us boarding group #3, we got there around noon and by the time we finished with check in (took only 10 min) they were calling group #5 already, so we went straight onboard.

Go to the NCL website and look for the CAS seccion and see all the info.

Thanks for the info. I did go to the CAS section and see that there are different levels of cards (Lucky, Hot, Golden & VIP). Since this is our first time on NCL and we booked through/because of a land based casino do they start us out with the Lucky card? I ask because according to their chart you have to be at least Hot to get the free drinks and this was one of the perks they told us we would have.
