fmigali Posted August 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 17, 2014 We are going on a quick weekend cruise (in 40 days) out of Long Beach down to Ensenada. We haven't been to Ensenada since 2006, what's going on down there these days? No desire to goto the blow hole. Ultimately, trying to decide if we are going to get off the ship. Maybe just for some cheap drinks and entertainment?

losijon Posted August 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) There is a wine tour that goes to two wineries. It's awesome. They feed you and you get to taste a bunch of different wines. At the first one they even give you a bottle. Last year when my wife and I went, between the two wineries we bought about 7 bottles of wine. Several bottles of olive oil and a couple of jars of preserves for about $70.00 US. And they do take US currency. It's about a 4 hour excursion. Well worth the money and wasn't even expensive. Around $40.00 or so PP. ..................................................... champagne123 Posted August 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) Ensenada....memories. January 2013...Splendor out of Long Beach. 15 day cruise to Hawaii, but stopped at Ensenada on the way back. Took the bus (all lined up in the parking lot) $2 into town. CRAZY....but enjoyed the craziness. Hubby and I went into a bar for a Margarita. Bar was PACKED. Could not even get a table, so we sat at the bar. 15 minutes went by before the bartender could even get to us. Very apparent that he was in the weeds. After ordering two Margarita's, he grabbed two dirty glasses, dumped out the limes and remaining ice in the glasses and proceeded to make our drinks in the DIRTY glasses. Whispered this to my husband.....flipped out and we left.....with the bartender asking where we were going. Edited August 17, 2014 by champagne123 vvvvv
elliair Posted August 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 17, 2014 We're going in a couple of weeks to Santa Catalina and Ensenada. Been to Ensenada many times. We basically walk past the security to the end of road. We go right and cross over to a large museum which use to be a casino where all the Hollywood stars of the past use to hang out. There's a bar there and outside the bar are vendors selling the usual Mexican stuff. Then we go back through the security gate and there's more shops. There's a guy who sells Margaritas and Bloody Mary's. They are soooo good! Reasonably priced and he doesn't skimp on the booze. They have cleaned up the town somewhat. We're not much into the excursions. The wine tour looks interesting though.

bdever Posted August 18, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2014 I can't recommend the Wine Country Tour ENOUGH ;) What a fantastic excursion!!! You will not be disappointed with the wine & liqueur tasting! There are wonderful tapas to accompany the wines, the scenery is fantastic, the tour guide on the bus is amazing and full of info, there is even a little Aztec dance performance that is done. The price of the wine is VERY reasonable at about $7.00 per bottle at L.A. Cetto and is very good quality!!! Plus you walk away with a bottle of free wine per person! SadieN Posted August 18, 2014 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2014 (edited) The other winery on the tour sells jams and jellies. The olive oil is also very good. If you do not want to go on the tour, the local markets, Soriana and Calimax sell La Cetto. Edited August 18, 2014 by SadieN
