Hi

Just realised that DH can claim this obc for the national service he did in the 1950s. Have, today sent the relevant proof of service to princess for the b2b cruise weare doing next year. Although cannot understand why princess are asking for two sets of documents, one for each segment of the cruise!!! Do I assume therefore that any subsequent booking will still need proof of service sent each time? Surely it is not to much to expect princess should be able to mark our records accordingly with proof of MOD having already been provided?

Any comments would be appreciated

I'm from the UK and have to apply each time.:(

Yes I too can confirm you have to apply each time for some reason - they don't keep it on file like they do for US cruisers.

By the way. All you UK cruisers. I see that P and O are now starting to award military benefit.

Hi,

Yes I agree with the UK replies. You have to apply for the Military OBC each cruise you book.We have scanned and saved our info and just email it to Princess or to our TA for them to sort out each time. Not too much hassle, but I do agree Princess should keep it on file.

Enjoy your cruise :)

The military OBC is a fantastic idea and glad that Princess does it. The prior Princess CEO was a Viet Nam veteran and big on veteran affairs here in the US and is the one who instituted this OBC. Thank you.

Here in the colonies as I heard the mother country refer to us as, our military service is recorded and automatically posted to all sailings. It sounds like Southampton needs to get with the program and do the same. I wonder how the pax down in Oz handles this.

Hi. I recently applied for military OBC.. As I had not heard anything I contacted Princess who told me it had been outsourced to a company in India and they had no control over it. Oh dear. Can you let me know what you used as evidence of service? I sent a copy of my discharge paper but am not sure if this is sufficient and no-one seems able to help at Princess..

Hi there millie-may. I found this out recently about it being outsourced to India, apparently this is where all the Military Benefits World wide is now being dealt with.

All you need to send is a copy of your discharge papers and 'Military Benefit Request Form' which you can download from the Princess site under 'Cruise Deals' and 'Military Benefit Program'

Have you got a 'Princess Cruise Specialist' allocated to you? If so contact them they may be able to help.

However, I think that we are in the hands of the Outsourcers' :(

On the positive note hopefully we will come in line with the Americans and will not have too claim every time we book a cruise :)

Should add that we did eventually get it credited to our OBC.

As aikensbest said, it is much appreciated that Princess recognises Armed Forces from around the World, "WELL DONE PRINCESS" and all the other parts of Carnival that buy into this.

If you consistantly use the same TA, I would suggest you provide him/her an electronic copy of the document. Have them keep it in your file and submit it every time when making reservations. May come in handy for other reservations too . . . Other cruise lines, hotels, etc.

We have provided our TA with electron copies of all supporting documents (military service verification, LEO credentials, EMT license, ordination, passports, cruise/hotel/airline/rental car rewards memberships). Send in updates when necessary. Never can tell what discount programs there are out there.

It appears that Princess and Cunard use the same data base. We were surprised when we booked a Cunard cruise to see that our military credits (we are both veterans) showed up immediately.

This is one of the big reasons that we pretty much book only Princess and Cunard these days.

We used to like HAL but they don't have the military benefits and their wine policy is annoying.

P&O also now do the Military Benefit.

Thanks for info. I have sent off forms and will just sit back and wait. It is great to get this credit and, together with shareholder and other OBC's we'll have a wonderfull cruise.

Not sure what you mean by "Princess Cruise Specialist". We are Elite and normally book direct.

We book with Princess direct. A few months ago we had a phone call from a Jessica Truman introducing herself as our PCS and that if we had any problems to give her a call.

The other week I was trying to book a cruise for next year online but it would not recognise our FCC, so I saved the cruise and was going to phone Princess in the morning.

9am the next day Jessica phoned and sorted it out, apparently she monitors our account.

I mentioned to her about our Military Benefits that had not been added to our next very soon cruises, she said that she would investigate. That afternoon she phoned me back to say that hopefully it would be applied soon, the next day it was.

I am sure that if you contact her she would help: 02380 655000 ext 2100 or email: jessicatruman@carnivalukgroup.co.uk

Hi Millie-May

We are having the same problem. I sent DH record of service forms from MOD by post to Southampton. Not having heard anything, I rang Southampton who informed me that they now do not deal direct with miitatary benefit, and that they now have to scan the information and, send it to the e mail address on the application form. Having done that they then have to shred all documents!!! Something to do with data protection act!!! Yesterday I received a generic e-mail from princess USA saying they had received DH application form but there was no supporting documentation!! Having originally attached husband's MOD record of service form showing his enlistment and discharge qualifying dates, we are getting worried that we may not be granted the obc we deserve.

I have now re-sent the docs to princess USA and await further developments.

Incidentally Aiden at Princess Southampton said that he is trying to get the benefit section returned to the UK to administer, as it was previously. The thought of "if it ain`t broke, don't mend it" springs to mind.

We await developments.

We too are Elite and book direct but we have our own Personal Cruise Consultant. It makes booking and subsequent queries much easier as you are only dealing with one person.

Hi

I have since spoken with my TA, on a different matter and mentioned about the military credit and she said that they had had many similar comments from their customers. They have requested that we send the docs directly to them and they will forward them to their contact their princess. They will then keep a note of this on our database, for future bookings, thus negating the need to reapply each time.

Incidentally, despite many princess cruises, we were not aware of the existence of Personal Cruise Consultants until very recently.

Please could you tell me more about this Military Credit. It says you have to have served 20 years, but if you are an active member thats okay. It seems unfair to me that someone who has just served say 1 year is entitled and I who did 15 years is not. Im I correct in this please
