bup1224 Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Has anyone been on the Jewel with MTD recently? We are cruising in 28 short days :) and would love suggestions for good waiters to request. Last year, night 1 dinner service was awful, we lucked into a fabulous area on night 2 and stayed there for the rest of the cruise. Thank you! CruiseDude_83 Posted August 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2014 I hope to hear good things from this question as we will be sailing the week before you. I would also be interested to hear if anyone has been to Chops recently on Jewel to see if they have switched to the "new" menu.

bumbletigger Posted September 5, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 5, 2014 We were on Jewel in June. Our waiters for MTD were good, but can't remember their names. We only are there twice. We are at Chops twice also. They had the old menu. If you wait to make your reservations after you board, they were offering discounts based on the number of reservations you made. Since we had 2, we got 15% off both nights. Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Zou Bisou Bisou Posted September 5, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 5, 2014 We were on Jewel in August. Jewel has not switched to the new Chops menu and is still priced at $30 for Chops instead of $35. We ate in the Main Dining Room twice. Service was fine. Not great, but fine. I brought a drink in with me as bar service is pretty slow in the MDR.

We were on Jewel March 15-22 sailing and had Noel as our waiter. Terrific, absolutely terrific, a view shared by friends who were lucky enough to have him on their Jewel cruise this July
Sunny AZ Girl Posted September 5, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 5, 2014 We had Brazillo for MTD in May. . We requested him all week and were able to get him. . One of the best waiters we have been privileged to have in a long time!

Just keep in mind that when you sail the waiters that may be recommended to you could be off the ship on their contract rotation. BTW, night one dining can be somewhat chaotic on many ships. :) Edited September 5, 2014 by leaveitallbehind
bup1224 Posted September 6, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted September 6, 2014 Thanks to those who responded. We are thinking WJ for the 1st night dinner as last year the 1st night was - very hectic.
bup1224 Posted October 2, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted October 2, 2014 We just got back - our head waiter from last year was there - Agnelo Leitao - he is fabulous. Also - our assistant waiter from last year should be promoted in a few months - Ariel Baricuatro - just as fabulous.

Ashland Posted October 3, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Did the sea view cafe have good hours? Where did u eat for the first formal night? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Yes...the hours varied..but most days it was usually open from 2:30-6:30pm and then again 9:00pm-1:00am. First formal night we ate WJ it was a St Thomas port for us and we spent as much time as possible off ship and then to the CL...so didn't want to dress up...2nd formal night MTD...We cruise often and have gotten far away from feeling formal on many itineraries.
