phabric Posted August 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) I am doing a sole cruise, 7 day Greek Isles from Rome next August. I am looking at air prices and times. I have found direct flights with Air Canada from Toronto, Canada (YYZ) to Rome (FCO). I can get a flight arriving at 9:20am on day of cruise (second day of cruise is a sea day) and a flight on disembarkment day for 11:20am (the ship suppose to arrive at 5am). Choice Air lists this flight. There is a charted airline with direct flights arriving at 11:20am and departing 2pm for a couple hundred more. I plan on taking RC's transfer both ways. How long is it from port to the airport? What time do they start disembarking? Can I make the 11:20am return flight? If you are booking your flights through Choice Air, then you should have no problem. Port to Airport can be 45 minutes or longer depending on traffic. Clarea Posted August 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2014 The trip from FCO to Civitavecchia is about an hour with private car service.
DEL67 Posted August 24, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2014 If the ship is scheduled to dock by 7 AM, you should be able to make a 11:40 flight without any issues. One suggestion though. Check out hiring private transportation. The price is often comparable or less expensive than ship transfers and you do not have to wait for a bus to fill up. In addition, if you have not already done so, join (or start) the roll call for your cruise and see if anyone would like to share transportation for you. Last time we did so, it was only 20 Euros a person for a van for 8 people.
