LOTS 10/3 formal night, laundry & weather

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I haven't cruised in several years so I'm interested in just how dressy formal night is these days. I've heard that it's quite a range from street dress to cocktail dress and even pants. On casual nights, are capris and the like acceptable? Does the later seating make a difference?

Because we'll be spending a few days in Madrid after the cruise, I'm curious about laundry services on the ship. Is it available on a 7-day cruise? Would you recommend using? It would definitely help when trying to pack light.

Also, I read that weather that time of year is in the 70's but I'm not sure of the evenings when sailing. I'm trying NOT to pack for every possibility.

Thanks for all your help.

Rocky

Laundry service will be available on a 7-day cruise. They should also have one offering of the special wash & fold bag for $30. This is for all you can fit in the bag of items like shorts, socks, underwear, t-shirts. Ask you stateroom attendant which day they will have the bag.

We used the laundry service on our Mediterranean cruise. The bag thatBob mentioned is great! We found that formal was less formal because if the luggage weights. I wore light weight dresses. But the best in my opinion is dress black slacks with changes of tops and jewelry. In Madrid we found that the residents seemed to wear darker colors and flats instead of sandals. Of course we had packed khakis and sandals. Even we could pick out the tourists. Our son lived there for five months and wore mostly dark colors.

  • 2 weeks later...

Does the ship have ATMs available? I'm guessing they do if there's a casino.

Did you take the all access tour of the ship? If so, was it worth it?

What about the beverage packages? We're not wine drinkers or even big drinkers, for that matter. Is this worth doing?

Thanks for any help.

Linda;)

Yes there are ATM's on the ship. Depending on the fee structure of your bank and any other rates the machine itself may charge you may be "ahead of the game" simply withdrawing from the casino against your SeaPass account.

I have not done the ships tour, although I have had galley tours included for free as part of the Chefs Table. It was quite interesting.

If you are not big drinkers chances are the drink package will not be worth it. You will need to average probably 7 - 8 cocktails per day to "break even" including port days as well. If you aren't going to drink that much it is a better value, money wise, to just order a la carte when the mood strikes.

Great info and just in time. Thanks to all of you.

One more question: Did you need a plug adapter on the ship or land hotels to charge phones and ipads? If so, I'll need to get one quick.

2 more weeks before we leave!

Linda

The stateroom on the ship will have both US and Euro power outlets.

Thank you Clarea. That's very helpful. We're also spending a couple days in Barcelona & Madrid after the cruise so I'll have to check if the hotels also have the outlets we'll need.

The hotels will only have Euro 220V outlets, so you will need an adapter and possibly a converter for US appliances.
