Astro Flyer Posted September 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2014 I've only had the Black & Blue Onion soup in the Crown Grill & to me the French Onion soup in the dining room is not as good. There's been a short supply worldwide of snails for escargot due to a problem where they are primarily produced. We didn't have it on b2b 4-day cruises on the Sapphire in January but had it on a 31 day cruise on the Golden. Hopefully you'll have escargot on your cruise although that may be unlikely. caribill Posted September 4, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Escargot, if available, will be in the dining room one evening. Ask your headwaiter about it the first evening. He can tell you which evening it would be and might be able to get it for you on other evenings.
MaChere Posted September 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Enjoyed the black and blue soup in the Crown Grill just a couple weeks ago on the Ruby. Yummy indeed.
flamomo Posted September 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Just got off the CB a couple of days ago, after 9 days aboard ... a 5 day, followed by a 4 day. We went to the Crown Grill once on each leg, and YES! the still offer the wonderful B&B Onion soup. Escargot was available one night on each leg, in the dining room. RKSue Posted September 4, 2014 #8 Share Posted September 4, 2014 We had the Escargot on the 4 day cruise on Caribbean. Just got off Sept 1. The black and blue soup is only at the Crown Grill. It is without a doubt my favorite soup.
Kewz1 Posted September 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Can you tell me a little more about the B&B soup?? Kristen
RKSue Posted September 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 4, 2014 Its French Onion soup with a twist. First its loaded with onions that are perfectly sauteed so they melt in your mouth. Then its topped with a blue cheese and I think (only guessing here) a little Provolone cheese as well on top. There is a thin crouton just under the cheese. I am not a huge lover of blue cheese. That being said, this soup does not taste like blue cheese. It is by far my favorite soup on any cruise line. The nice thing about the Crown Grill is that you can order as much as you like of anything, so I would at least give it a try. I have not personally met anyone that did not just love this soup after they tried it.
