Allure ocean balcony

I'm in the very early stages of starting to make plans for sailing on Allure.

We will be booking a ocean balcony cabin, my question is what decks do you recommended based on you own cruise experience on Allure.

The categories of balcony cabins dosn't matter to us. I also see a bump out on the ship , should I avoid that section?

We like deck 8 because it's the same deck as Central Park.

The bump out section (called the "hump" here on Cruise Critic) is considered a desireable section due to the larger balcony and more dramatic view.

View the deck plans on rci's site and decide what you would like to be close to or what your interest are and then book a cabin near that area

The bump outs are great locations giving one views forward and aft

All d cat cabins are the same size, balconies are slightly larger on the bump out

Just remember this is one huge ship. Notice that there are only two banks of elevators and stairs. You will really be happy to get a location near to the elevators.

Midsize ships often have elevators in the middle, with the fore and aft elevators located farther to the ends of the ship. Without the middle elevators, they've placed the fore and aft ones a little more to the middle than would otherwise be. This leaves an awful lot of cabins farther forward, and even more, farther aft from those locations. if you choose a cabin forward of the fore elevators, or one aft from the aft elevators, you are going to have a lot more walking to do.

For example, look at the deck plans and imagine being in a cabin far aft, on any deck. Then imagine yourself having to get to the aft pool. You are going to have to walk more than a third of the ships length to get back to the elevator, then the same distance back again to the aft (could be 150 yards or more) Any cabin near the elevator will save you half that walk. (And would put you closer to things at the front of the ship too).

Just study the deck plans, and find a cabin that is near the places you will go the most.

Deck 9 has cabins both above and below so it will be quiet. It is also easy to take the stairs to decks up and down a few decks. Definitely grab a hump cabin if you can. I upgraded to a hump cabin on Deck 8 last weekend and am very happy with that location too.

We liked deck 9 on the hump. These may have just been junior suites (JS), which is what we were in. In any event, we like decks 8 or 9, near the midship elevators. Look at the deckplans and try to choose any deck between other passenger decks. I've never been under the pool deck or the windjammer, but I don't think I'd like to wake up to the noise of chairs being moved around. It may not bother you, on the other hand.

We like deck 6 mid for the easy access to the Boardwalk & Johnny Rockets for breakfast, Schnoor bar, one deck down to the Promenade & 2 decks up to Central Park. Plus the elevators going to the upper decks are rarely full when getting to deck 6.

We had hump staterooms on our Allure cruise back in April. It was our first balcony (we prefer promenade rooms when available). It was a hump cabin but with the exception of sea days we were always blocked by another ship and the only view we had was of another ship CLOSE enough to them to talk back and forth. We won't pay the extra for a balcony again mainly because we're rarely in our room.....just our opinion, most others wouldn't sale unless it was a balcony! That said, just note that the hump rooms are probably further from the elevators than any other rooms. We walked and walked and walked but the good is that you walk off some of those good meals. We were on the 6th floor. I would get a balcony room on boardwalk though overlooking the Aqua Theater. You can see things going on, shows, etc. from your own private balcony. Friends at our table had one and it was fantastic. It is, however, a bit noisy but doesn't seem to go past midnight if that late. Central Park is quiet and very nice but never much going on except window washing. Enjoy Allure, it's a great ship and regardless of your decision, you'll have a wonderful time!

Did not like deck 6. Would always have crowds from the boardwalk to deal with when getting to/from room.

We have stayed on Deck 6, just aft of the aft elevators, on both the Oasis, and the Allure (B2B), in a D8 cabin. Wonderful location. Never bothered by crowds from the Boardwalk.

This location is close to everything - Boardwalk activities and Schooner Bar; there are also great viewing areas for the parades and other Promenade activities. Just one deck up from the Promenade; easy access to the Casino, as well as the Comedy Club, Studio 21, and Jazz Club. Also, keep in mind that the Main Dining Rooms on in the aft of the ship, and very easy to walk to from Deck 6. Central Park, on deck 8 is easy to get to also.

We love Deck 8. It is so convenient to Central Park. We booked a B-1 Balcony ((8729) on Allure so we can see the ocean and the Aqua Theater from the balcony. We don't mind the walk to the back of the ship! Saved a lot of $$ going with the Boardwalk Balcony vs Ocean view...and we can still see the ocean. I understand how it may not be for everyone, but this is the 2nd time we've done this and we can't wait!:)

Lots of CC members seem to suggest deck 8 because of it's proximity to Central Park, but unless you spend lots of time in Central park, that proximity doesn't mean a lot. Same with deck 6 and the proximity to the boardwalk.

This is really the best answer. The pool is on deck 15, the Windjammer is on deck 16, the kids programs are on deck 14, so if these areas are important, that should be part of the choices. And keep in mind that at the aft end of deck 11 and 12 are public decks that few visit, and are often quiet if you want to sit in the sun and see where the ship has been in relative quiet. Many will mention this hidden gem, but if you are on a lower deck, it is a long way to these spots.

The bump outs are great locations giving one views forward and aft

All d cat cabins are the same size, balconies are slightly larger on the bump out

Note that the D1 cabins are all the same price no matter if it is on deck 6 or deck 14, unlike other D cabins that are more expensive as they get higher. Additionally, the D1 cabins at either ends of the block are the smallest of the D1 balconies and are angled, so there is slightly less of a view.

And a note on deck 7: due to the entrance to the boardwalk, there is no walkway ad the aft elevators from port to starboard, so if you have taken an elevator or stairs to that deck and you are on the wrong side, you will need to go either up or down to get to the other side.

For me, I now choose decks 11 if possible, or deck 10 if not, as these are midway between the top decks and the promenade decks (unless there is a great deal on the Loft suites, but those are a long way from anything). It gives me easy access to Central park (and other venues) as the elevators (and stairs) are right at the entrance to Central Park, and it is just a few decks to the pool. I regularly use the stairs, so I get some exercise without being overwhelmed by a long walk to the top or bottom, which is nearly always quicker than waiting for elevators. And at ports, the higher decks will have the better views (but the latter is just my opinion and preference, YMMV).
