SadieN Posted January 24, 2015 #151 Share Posted January 24, 2015 Most of the strobe lighting is gone. At least on the Inspiration and Imagination. B
Surfwench Posted January 24, 2015 #152 Share Posted January 24, 2015 Part of the problem could be as a high repeat CCL cruiser....you've seen it all, many times over. Carnival fatigue. Might be time to branch out and see what else is there. Funny thing, I wasn't expecting much on our Paradise cruise in December. Last minute, budget getaway. But they still had a show band, (which I love and always go hear them when they play day time venues), and a show that seems specifically built around the CD. Can't remember his name :( but he was a fantastic fiddler. C&W is not my thing but they totally rock it. Breeze had best live entertainment, hands down.... but we walked out of the Playlist production. If they've tweaked them, will give a try again. We've always enjoyed the fly-ons like Consuela Ivy and Marcus Anthony. Even the jugglers and magicians usually turn out more entertaining than anticipated. Now if they would just move the comics to a larger venue... If the quality of the after dinner show is important, I'd try those cruise lines that feature broadway shows or Blue Man Group, (THAT is a can't miss experience). Everyone is different. Hubby hates broadway style musical productions and only goes to indulge me. :)
chicail16 Posted January 24, 2015 #153 Share Posted January 24, 2015 (edited) Entertainment preferences are definitely subjective. I loved the Playlist performers on Conquest last April. I saw the Latin show twice! Divas was great too! The leading lady singer reminded me of Rihanna. I would've saw Divas twice, but there was so much going on at night. I also love movies by the pool at night. It's like being at the drive-in. The only show I didn't care for was the Brit show. I wish the music was better with more modern British songs. Some music and bands from the 80's and 90's would've been good! I'm also a fan of the old Carnival Broadway style shows, loved when they sang, "Phantom of the Opera." Maybe Carnival and other lines could change each ship's entertainment yearly to keep it fresh! I'll be on the Dream next, hopefully, the entertainment will be just as good or better! I actually cancelled my cheaper NCL Getaway cruise because I didn't like NCL's overall entertainment listings, except for the great dancing of "Burn the Floor". I think Carnival offers a better variety of entertainment IMHO. I don't necessarily want to see "Legally Blonde" or 'Chicago" the musical and I think NCL has no movies or concerts by the pool. This is where Carnival and Princess shines for me! I just did another Disney Cruise in October 2014 and still, I prefer Carnival's entertainment over Disney's. Again, I am not a fan of the theatrical style musicals. But, most people rave about Disney's entertainment and I never have much desire to see those shows twice, although I have - just not during the same cruise. billyjean000 Posted January 25, 2015 #155 Share Posted January 25, 2015 My daughter really enjoyed the Playlist Productions especially Divas ( I did other things so missed the shows) when we were on the Glory. I really enjoyed the live band shows on the Splendor ( my daughter sat through one with me and said never again) So in March when I'm on the Glory with my younger friend I'll have to give Playlist a chance. All I can say is we have different tastes and that is good because life would be pretty boring if everyone was satisfied all the time. Of course, if my hubby was well enough to cruise he'd say any entertainment stinks and only the slots at the casino are entertaining!
lido deck larry Posted January 26, 2015 #156 Share Posted January 26, 2015 I'd love it if Carnival gutted the main theatre on every ship and replaced it with a night club / casino. End the pitiful cheese ball entertainment once and for all. Turn the MDR into a self-serve food court / buffet. Give the people what they want.. This isn't Cunard, let's stop pretending we need them to offer this stuff. With the extra revenue and cost savings they can further lower fares! Win-win. ccruisequeen Posted January 26, 2015 #158 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Not looking forward to Epic Rock or Divas on Imagination. Inspiration Playlist productions were better, disco was great I still cruise for warm chocolate melting cake (with two sugar free vanilla ice creams)
jtwitch Posted January 26, 2015 #159 Share Posted January 26, 2015 Can someone provide some education for me? I see "Hasbro" and "Playlist" being used a lot, and everyone (but me) seems to have an understanding of what those words mean. :) Anyone help a (relative) newbie out here? If you watch the TV show named "Family Game Night," it is pretty much identical to HASBRO! The Game Show. Playlist is a downgrade from the old production shows. Half of the singers and dancers were terminated, as well as live music being replaced by canned music. Instead of some backdrops, projectors are being incorporated. He was the CD on our Ecstasy cruise and that was one of the shows. Xtreme Country I think. He can play Devil Went Down to Georgia almost as good as Charlie Daniels.
