Raina, I am loving your "live from" review.

I am friends with a few that you are cruising with on the Radiance Honolulu to Sydney part of your trip.......the Aussie contingent:p

We stayed at the Kingston hotel, (opposite le Hermitage........ where you had dinner) when we did Beijing to Vancouver last year, so your photos bought back lovely memories. We loved Vancouver.:)

Have a fabulous cruise, enjoy time with your Dad, how special.

Hi Raina,

Caroline & I were on the Honolulu to Sydney cruise with you last year,

but now we are so jealous as we want to be on that cruise now.

(Work keeps getting in the way LOL)

We did Vancouver to Honolulu a couple of years ago on the Radiance

and really enjoyed it.

Glad you're having a great time in Vancouver, we just love that city.

Your Dad seems to be enjoying the trip so far.

Great pictures and commentary, keep them coming. Enjoy the Radiance!!!!

Cheers,

Hi all,

I’m having a go at live blogging Vancouver to Hawaii 12 Sept, then Hawaii to Sydney 20th Sept.

I’m Raina from Canberra (the capital of Australia – No, Sydney is not the capital). I’m travelling with my 89 yo Dad – Andy. He only started cruising 4 year ago, after Mum died and we dragged him along. Of course he fell in love with it. And fell in love with Radiance. I booked this trip last year when I sailed Hawaii to Sydney and have been talking about going to ‘Vancouver Eh’ ever since.

I will definitely be following along since DH and I will be taking these exact same b2b's in 2016! :)

Thanks for all the lovely comments all. We are just checking out and heading off to the pier. Let's hope it is better then it has been for the last few cruises out of Baltntyne.

So I guess this is the end of the "Eh" part of the trip and the heading off towards "G'Day".

Talk when I have more Internet.

Raina.

I am sitting at my office desk looking out the window at the Radiance at this precise moment. Beautiful day for you setting off to Hawaii. I am very jealous. Although, I have 2 more weeks of work then I head off to Honolulu and on October 5 pick up the Celebrity Solstice for a 17 day cruise to Sydney!

Unfortunately, flying back I am in baggage class....your business class sure looked wonderful.

Hope you have an absolutely amazing cruise.

Nicola

Friday 12th September Day 4 CRUISE DAY (Da y 1)

Yahhhh. It’s cruise day!

Vancouver is wild with cruisers today! Four ships in. Three at Canada Place and us at Ballantyne. The lobby of our hotel was full on luggage – ALL with either RCCL luggage tags or RCCL departure group tickets. Pretty funny.

We had to call past Avis (to retrieve Andy’s glasses) and the place was a zoo. At least 20 groups lined up to collect cars. And most of them had departure group tags from RCCL!

We taxied to Ballantyne Pier and saw our beloved Radiance waiting patiently for us.

We did arrive at a bit after 11am so the pier was not chaotic at all. We were quickly through all the lines (priority and a walker) and to immigration. Then it was my turn to cause the fuss.

5 years ago my DD and I had a passport ‘mishap’ which resulted in us having to ditch our plans for a few days in Denali National Park, fly from Anchorage to New York and get new passports. Then fly back to Anchorage as we were going to Brooks falls to see the bears! (another story but a mind blowing experience). Bottom line - - I flew into USA on one passport, and flew out on another. Now every time I enter the US, a flag goes up and after 20 questions the supervisors send me through. But not today! We were sat on the ‘naughty couch’ and waited 20 minutes while they conducted an ‘investigation’. Final I was allowed through. Yah! Needless to say Dad did have a few laughs at me, saying things like “IF they let you on….” Something to do with payback I believe.

All was good; we were onboard by around 11.45.

SAD FACE - SENT TO THE NAUGHTY CHAIR

Roast beef roll at the Park Cafe and time to settle in. I guess I will have a trip to the naughty room as well as our bottles of champagne are in one suitcase.

AND it looks like all of you people who have been on Radiance since November 2013 have looked after her and kept her in great shape. Thankyou!

All my wondering about “Has the Radiance got the unlimited internet package?.....…” Well, I have just been to guest services and guess what????? NO PACKAGES!!! 75 cents a minute flat rate (Until the 17th). I politely explained that this will not do. There was another couple there at the same time with the same issue. They are starting up a business and cannot be without the Internet. I don’t need it I just want it! Poor guest services girl will get back to us as the bosses are out. We did come up with a simple solution so I’m sure all will be fine.

There was one lady down there wanting a new room and her husband was too tall for the shower!

CLEAN DECK!

NOTE ---Todays photos will be in low quality. Until I find out if I’m paying 25c a minute or 75 cents a minute!!!!!! Sorry.

We were booked on this cruise but had to cancel and rebook for next year. Thanks for sharing your experience as it makes it easier to think we too could have been boarding the Radiance today. Enjoy sail away and the rest of your cruise.
