JanDom Posted December 10, 2014 Author #26 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Because of the price drop, we now think about booking a junior suite. Does anybody have picture of this room category, because I can't find lots of informations about it, even on halfcats... we think about it is worse the price ot 1500$ more per person instead of an oceanview cabin ... Thank you :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 10, 2014 #27 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Junior Suites?? HAL has Pinnacle Suites (PS), Neptune Suites (SA, SB), Verandah Suites (A, B, BA), Verandah Spa Suites (BQ) and Vista Suites (B, BB, BC). What letter category are you looking at? JanDom Posted December 10, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Sorry in Germany the call it Junior Suites ?! It seems like the Statendam only have the Vista and Neptune Suites. For us the Vista Suites are interesting or better booking an ocean view ? For us it is a hard decision, because we normally book the "normal" Balcony/Verandah cabins ... Thank you :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 10, 2014 #29 Share Posted December 10, 2014 Verandah and Vista Suites - nearly all of them are identical. Maasdam and Ryndam and Veendam are sister ships of the Statendam. JanDom Posted December 10, 2014 Author #30 Share Posted December 10, 2014 So it seems like they are the same size then "normal" balcony cabins on for example the Noordam ? Do you get something special if you book this kind of Suite ?
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 10, 2014 #31 Share Posted December 10, 2014 The Noordam has many size cabins with balconies. Thus the Statendam Vista class cabins fall in between size wise. On the Statendam you get double points for staying in a Vista cabin. In other words for example, if you book a 10 day cruise, you get 20 points. And of course for every $300 per day that you spend on the ship, you get another point.
Jim Henry Posted December 10, 2014 #32 Share Posted December 10, 2014 I was on Statendam as recently as this last July. Other than a few trivial things like a spec of rust here and there and some windows that needed replacement I thought it was in near-pristine condition. No issues whatsoever with HVAC, plumbing, and soft furnishings in nice condition, etc. Agree. We went to Alaska this past June. Excellent crew. Very good food. we had a quad . It was crowded , but we expected that. Smaller ship but not a concern. Only real complaint was we didn't get our room service breakfast on the last day. iancal Posted December 10, 2014 #33 Share Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) We had a great last minute offer on the ship this past summer. I think it was $349 an outside. Only one thing stopped us from taking the offer...it was a Statendam cruise. For the maintenance issues mentioned above. We not willing to take a chance on being stuck in a malfunctioning cabin for 7 days-regardless of how good the offer was. lazey1 Posted December 11, 2014 #34 Share Posted December 11, 2014 We were on the Statendam 11/2/14 until 12/3/14. We heard about one couple whose toilet overflowed once and noticed that the mens room nearest the Pinnacle Grill was out of order and closed for most of the cruise. Other than this there were no issues that we heard off. The ship is very well maintained and there is only one word to describe the entire staff--Wonderful. Our cruise director, Rick, was truly outstanding coming with with unexpected treats quite frequently. In his words "expect the unexpected aboard your home, the Statendam"
JanDom Posted December 11, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted December 11, 2014 Thanks for all your help! Because of the nice stops we will do the cruise... We know it is a small ship and an Old one also, but if the Crew is nice we do not care if there are maybe smaller Problems they can fix 😊 The only Thing we still think about is : Booking an Ocean view and use the Money we saved for something else or book a Vista Suite and get the nice things like 300$ OBC and so on...and a own balcony but Pay more Money...
