Just stepped off the Gem. Will write up a LONG summary of all the CAS stuff past and present when I get home, but for the meantime I believe I see why they made the change.

On entering my room there is an advertisement standing on the table:

Get the VIP treatment! Breakfast/Lunch in Cagney's, some other of the VIP treatment options as well. Only $99 per person.

They plan to sell it now...

Bad idea if they continue with that offer. Why would I continue to pay for a suite to get those perks when I could book a balcony and just pay $99 more.

Was it in every cabin, or just those booked through CAS?

I called to book a suite today for a cruise and the representative said to me, "why would we give a suite worth 8-10grand to a solo gambler. We can give you a balcony" Shocked, I am always comped and upgrade to suite. SO then I call back get a suite. Crazy

Did you have to pay to upgrade to a suite.

I have been offered a mini and may pay to upgrade.

Boarded the Star yesterday. No such notice in cabin. Casino host stated all my perks are good and no changes from what I'm used to. Said there will be changes in the future but additional better perks will be given. She wouldn't say when or what.

Really appreciate that you are reporting back so quickly with the good news that you are not experiencing any changes. Did you receive any explanation why the CAS perks listed in the website changed? It's interesting that all your perks are still good in light of this new list and what others in this thread have been told shoreside regarding these changes (i.e., spa pass). Can't help but wonder what's going on.

Hope you have a wonderful trip. Thanks.

Here is a question on perks: On my Gem cruise (comped inside which I upgraded to a balcony) I went from Lucky to Hot. Part of the perks are dinner for 2 in a specialty restaurant. Yesterday (at the 90 day mark) I booked a reservation for 4 at Cagneys, as we wanted to make sure we fit in all our dining/entertainment stuff - we are big time planners. Did I make a mistake booking Cagneys in advance? Should I have waited until I went to the casino and had them book it for us? Have no idea how this works, but have a feeling I did it wrong! TY in advance!

Wife had a pic of the VIP Plus offer:

ry%3D480

Puts a clear value on what they are taking away from Goldens...

A post from the NCL public relations dept just clarified in another thread about this new amenity. In that thread, I requested that they clarify what's going on with the CAS tier benefits. Hopefully, they will respond soon here.

This happened to me. The casino cancelled the reservation I made and re-made it under CAS. I got a refund (should have been OBC, but wasn't) for what I paid for the initial reservation.

Pardon me for the noob question...

This is going to be our 8th cruise (October on the Gem) but first that we booked thru the casino. I know, shame on us for not doing it with the previous ones as we obviously gambled quite a bit and are the red category, but that's for a different topic.

Anyway, we booked the CAS. They "used our comps" and gave us a great deal (atleast I think so), mini suite for me and my wife for $1800 total ($900 per person). On the website, the same 9 day cruise, the mini suites are listed as $2000 per person so this is like half price.

I thought that was the extent of our perks, never asked anything further. I mean i know we priority embarking at the pier and get the drink cards because we're "red" card holders, but there are other perks that come with this? If so, do they tell you, is it listed in your room, should i be calling someone to get a list?

From what I understand, no real perks except the price break, drink card and priority embark for red card. Looking forward to some new perks as we moved up to new card color the 4th day on Gem. (2 dinners, treats in cabin) If you go on the CAS website, it shows the perks for each card color. (btw - we got an incredible deal on our Christmas Epic cruise - just payed for the upgrade to a balcony, and 2nd cabin 20% off!)

Just back from the Breakaway and I was told the same thing. Got all the current perks without question. Guess we wait and see what may be coming.

I've only taken 2 cruises on NCL. First one was Oct. 2013 because of a free cruise from a local casino and second one was in May 2014 Alaska. Both were booked thru CAS. I'm confused how they do the points to go from Hot to the next level. On the 2nd cruise they took money off our S&S. Does that mean they zeroed out our points and we start at zero again on November Epic cruise? Or even though we got cash back to the S&S that the points will be added to our total for all 3 cruises to possibly move up to a higher tier?
