How About Some Good Ole Fashion Fun...TONIGHT 4/12/04?

Recommended Posts

Ok, The Miss America Pagent is on tonight...not the fear factor one...

Why don't we try and see which of the lovely fashion attire would "easily" wind up in our suitcases for our next cruise or trip?

I suggest we take note of which casual, formal and of course which swim wear we would just LOVE to have.

You may also note the casual, formal or swimwear that you would not pack...no way, no how!

Remember to note the state just in case we fashion debate...like the judges and "Donald"...

I'll check back and give my report tomorrow even if I am a the lone "kooky old time Cruise Sister" who posts...

Oh Goody!

I love pageants. Since this one is Miss USA, we don't have to deal with the talent issue. Just swimsuits and formals! I also like to try to guess which contestants have been "enhanced".
Some of those girls should sue their plastic surgeons. Boobies do not, i repeat do not, belong up at the shoulder level!

Signing off now to go watch...

Rag doll: Did you have fun? I did!

Cruisedivas:

Didn't you just LOVE those swimsuits????

I was soooo disappointed that they all wore the same one.

I actually picked Missouri as my number 1 and she won!

South Carolina was my next favorite because she has a butt just like mine...she was actually the only one with a butt so to speak.

I loved the opening dresses in yellow, pink and peach. My favorites were California, Colorado, Texas, New York and a few others.

I think that the halter style is flattering especially with the empire waist!
That light weight fabric is also a feminine touch that I like.

LOVED the chandelier earrings worn by all.
The simple hair was good.
Not sure about the pony tail extensions...

Amazing that the ladies shopped, toured, rode in Super Shuttle Buses and went to amusement parks dressed to the nines and not wearing any of those highly recommended "walking" shoes!

I know, its a part of what they have to do but still it was great to not see a fanny pack, bulky white trainer shoe, and the like.

A real fun fashion and travel show. I am sooo glad they deleted all that corney singing by some male singer but, I wish they would have left the talent competition in.

I also loved the gowns for Georgia and Oklahoma. I am sure these ladies make it through the TSA and various airlines just fine despite the major amount of pounds that their lugguge must go over the "limit".

I am sorry to say that I missed the show. I did watch "The Swan" though, did anyone else? One of the girls wanted to look more feminine. She endured a multitude of plastic surgery procedures over a three month period. In the end she did look better but I don't know if the transformation was radical enough to make up for all the pain she suffered.

Tonight I will be avidly watching the BBC America show "What Not To Wear". I love this show because they take ordinary looking women and teach them what to wear to minimize their faults and how to emphasis their attributes. The girls are brutally honest but maintain that anyone can look good if they know what to wear. It is not to be confused with the American version which is only fair.

We dont get to watch it here! Maybe its on our sky digital later..anyone in uk know?
MANY years ago I used to be a beauty queen and I loved every minute of it. I loved the cattiness, and there was plenty, and the whole thing. Of course, I loved winning more than anything. I STlLL have one of my dresses which was a long white halter neck dress, the waist is so tiny it would fit a child..drat! WHERE did THAT figure go!
Of course now, the same shows would not happen here in the way they did in my day. Feminist groups would be up in arms.
I remember us all back stage with fake tan and elastoplast, I guess those kind of things wont have changed much. I remember each and everyone of us had to rehearse being the winner, and during the day, we had 30 second interviews which I am sure sealed your fate there and then before the parade. Oh..and the MOTHERS!! Oh those poor girls, some of the mothers were pure evil, they lived their lives thru their daughters and woe betide the girl that lost, tripped up, didnt walk right, say the right lines etc.
STll...all of this..and I wish I could have watched your programme last night!

We can coordinate for the Miss Universe Pagent!

It is in Peru this year. I am not sure when it comes on the boob tube but I'll keep watch.

Janet Marie:

I have come to the grand conclusion that one only needs taunt skin and bones with a curve here and there to look like 90% of the contestants.

A body so to speak is a bit much!

Oaktown!

Yes, I enjoyed the pageant immensely. I was most impressed with most of the young women. The evening gowns were some of the best I've seen in recent years. Miss MO's was beautiful..perfect color for her. But see you see the girl in the red dress with the pink underlayer that was so similar in style to hers. I bet they were not happy when they got a look at each others dress!

I was saddened that Miss NC did not place higher than 2nd runner up. I thought she showed lots of poise and was really rather attractive. Some years I can't say that about our state's representative.

I loved the originality of Miss SC's dress, all those feathers! That must have been a nightmare to pack. But her hair...what year did she think it was?

Poor Miss Oklahoma...I know that she was only 19, but dinner with anybody in the world and she picks Justin Timberlake?!? I bet her coach just cringed and when she sees the replay she will just be sick. Such a beautiful girl, esp. her eyes. Maybe she can try the pageant again when she is a little older/mature/better coached.

The swimsuits...wow, you could count all the ribs on some of those girls. Some of them were unattractively thin in my humble opinion. But I have to say I do admire all the effort that they put in to achieve that look. I wonder how much time they spend in the gym and what their diets must consist of.

Looking forward to Miss Universe pageant!

I too think Miss NC was great! She was by far the best in the swimsuit category as well.

I forgot it was on, yet when I saw the winner on the news tonight I thought to myself, "THAT is the gold dress I was looking for years ago (minus the earrings)!" I was more excited that my state won Miss Congeniality!

Oaktown! Where have you been???!! It has been so long that I changed my name around here! Good to see you back!

Cruise Sister Coka!!!!!! It That You!

Girl it has been a minute since we spoke!
How are you...girl, I like your new name.

Catch me up.

I am great, the teen son is graduating...ah, go on and e-mail me fo' they delete this post!

RAG DOLL: YES, YES, UmmmmHUH! and all that!

My, you are a true Cruise Sister. Calling um as you see um...I like that!

Poor Miss Oklahoma...that sound you heard...was me! My big ole butt hit the living room floor when she said JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!

Her "people" could have called his "nickel-dime" behind and set that up before they crowned Miss Missouri!

Cost her the crown, yes it did, yes it did!
Now, don't be surprised if you see her in one of them MTV video's...cause she brought all that on herself!!!

But, she young, probably just want she wont!

Girl...that imaginary USA tiara...that she ALMOST won...went floating right off her "air-head".

Sorry, that had to be said. Her coach and them are responsible but her momma and daddy are equally at fault!

Wish my child(6'4 handsome, intelligent, teen boy) would utter some embarassing stuff like that on TV!

I would have jumped that stage and body slammed him...oh hush, he had lost the contest already at that point anyway!!!!

Well, I gotta pack. No cruising just a land thing in a few...

My best to everyone!

Hi there Oaktown, just peeking at the board and there you are. I'll bet you have your Caribbean sun dresses on this week and enjoying the coolness they offer. I put on my favorite sarong that I bought in St Thomas and wore it with a halter top cuz it's sooo dang hot here. Then I got dressed in "real clothes" and went out and bought a new fan. I love wearing my cruise souvenirs but not quite so early in the season. LOL

PS, I can't believe your son is so grown up. I remember that grand slumber party he had a couple years ago. They grow up so fast, don't they?
