midwestchick Posted September 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2014 I was wondering if we're able to watch televised football games some place on the Journey or possibly in our stateroom. I'm looking at a couple of noon games which would be shown at 7:00 P.M., Italy time.
Rare uktog Posted September 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Sometimes yes sometimes no - typically not live there are also a number of European ports where transmission is not great so they tend not to be able to access the range of channels from before. What was the position on your last Azamara trip - expect it to be the same as then in terms of overall sports coverage Azamara focus much more on the destination and therefore are less focused on sports watchers so I would work on the basis you might have to miss a few games viewing
midwestchick Posted September 15, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted September 15, 2014 Thanks, uktog, No, I did not see any sports on our last cruise, or on X either. Guess I'll have to start cruising before football season starts. ;)
Redtravel Posted September 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2014 On my recent 14 nights on the Journey, there were no sporting events on my tv. The tv offerings were extremely limited. I was surprised that the offerings were so limited. On my recent Celebrity cruises, we watched many sporting events. In January, we were cruising on the Eclipse during the football playoffs. Great reception. Loved watching the games.

So yes, they do show some games depending on time and location and importance of game. We saw the 2013 superbowl early am in Hong Kong. There were also some other sports broadcasts on our March 2014 West Indies cruise.

After being out all day, little did we know the Packers were being televised...only found out after DH played around with the tv and found NFL games...had we known we would have seen our team earlier...lucily we did win. Maybe I can catch it on NFL station replay.
BillC Posted October 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2014 It really depends on where you are and what sattelite service is available to the ship, as well aswhat they have subscribed to. Several years ago I believe they had gotten a questionable ( but I'm not complaining! ) service for the Super Bowl, but it was only in Spanish, and when the commercials were on theree was no signal, at all. They did go all out to provide a continuous buffet service in all the venues on he ship. I would suggest that you search out one of the audiovisual staff and find out what will be shown. The Activities Manager should also know.
