Master98 Posted September 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Hi, Is it true that a cruise line can't sell alcohol to passengers while in Canadian ports? Thank you
Langley Cruisers Posted September 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2014 Do you mean bottles of alcohol or just single drinks at a bar onboard ship? The onboard shops are closed in port anyway so the first point is moot, but there is always at least one bar onboard open in every port, Canadian or otherwise. Where did you hear/read this? . Putterdude Posted September 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2014 There is generally a bar open somewhere but I have had the experience of not being able to purchase a bucket of beer and that is while alongside in both Canadian and US ports. The issue relates to having to account for and remit taxes to the state or province in question, so lines tend to try to limit sales.
