Does a cruise line do better in bad or good economy

A cruise is great bargain no matter how the economy is, especially for mass market lines. The ships will always fill up no matter what the low price is; even if walls are defecating, toilets overflowing, no electricity or whatever other wacky thing that can happen. That not me being negative, that just stating obvious facts that has happen. Customers love a good bargain and cruises provide that.

Cruises can still be a value, depending on how extravagant you want them to be. We spent less per day on our vacation this August (a 7-day cruise to the Caribbean) than we did for our vacation August 2013 (a 5-night trip to Annapolis and the Eastern Shore). Food is what did us in, even though we tried to eat in inexpensive places for the most part.

Cruise lines offer you a great value for your money depending on how you are looking at it. But is it always true that a great economy is better for a cruise line?
