OTownNick Posted April 14, 2016 #651 Share Posted April 14, 2016 Well, it turned out a bit more interesting. They did apply credits up to the full amount of the fares (less fees and taxes, of course), so instead of getting onboard credit, I'm actually getting a refund of the overage from my deposit back to my credit card. I'm glad I persevered, and I'm quite happy to have been fortunate enough to have sailed when there was this one last chance at a rebate. Now, if they'd just roll out this new program... I may have to check out Celebrity and get in their Blue Chip club. I have Eclipse booked for 1/2/18 but don't know if I can wait that long lol. Looking for one even sooner :)
gkbiiii Posted April 17, 2016 #652 Share Posted April 17, 2016 I just got off Oasis and the new program sounds horrible to me! 1. Club Royale members won't get the drink VIP sticker anymore, at the start of the cruise. You have to Earn this on EVERY cruise, before they give it to you. 2. You earn your status for EVERY cruise and get the benefits earned on the prior cruise. Thus your benefits change on every cruise! 3. There is a three tiered system, based on what you earn/play during each cruise. This is the worst program I have ever seen!! 4. Comped inside cabins (they never used to give below ocean-view) are 2,400 points. Higher cabin levels, based on play. 5. Hosts have discretion to completely disregard offers made from Club Royale On-land . This happened to us, with the worst host experience in 20 years of gaming!! Thus for the reasons listed above, I don't see the reason for spending time, in the casino, in the future!

If that is the case, I will be having a lot more time to enjoy the shows and the activities onboard my cruises..after they see the play and revenues drop, perhaps that will speak volumes and they will change the program to a better system,
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted April 17, 2016 #654 Share Posted April 17, 2016 I've seen a couple sweeping rewards program changes at sea, and on land. I'd say all were simply well crafted ways to GIVE LESS while at the same time forcing people to play more/higher just to keep up. All casinos are in it for themselves, as if that's a surprise! OTownNick Posted April 17, 2016 #656 Share Posted April 17, 2016 I'm not discounting what the Oasis host said but I think there is a misunderstanding or miscommunication. I just talked to CR and as of this moment, nothing's changed yet. No details on new program....but it is NOT the intent to re rate someone on every cruise. They will use the cumulative play for the past year to place us in a tier and we stay there. Not changed from one cruise to the next. I once again passed along my comments that a lot of us feel there is no incentive to play in the casino until the new program is layed out. All they could tell me was its expected to be rolled out 'this year'.

All they could tell me was its expected to be rolled out 'this year'. Not discounting this information. But . . . I was just on 3 voyages - 2/21, 3/2, and 3/30 sailings. There were definitely changes to the program -- even sailing to sailing during this short time period. My opinion is they are still trying to figure this whole thing out by trial and error. As I stated in a previous post I was given a $500 off certificate that I was able to use for a very inexpensive solo trip. I was never a member of the club before but now I am. MaritimeR&R Posted April 17, 2016 #658 Share Posted April 17, 2016 (edited) Between now getting 1099G's and those limited, time-constrained certificates, it is becoming less and less attractive to play onboard. Now, I am nowhere near a whale, averaging 6-7K points on a 7 ni cruise and frequently received comped balcony cabins, but having just booked my Serenade cruises for 2018 through the casino, I was surprised to see that the casino discount was only 18.0933194% of the published (sale) rate for each of those sailings. All of my 2017 cruises both past and future for this year received a much better discount and my play average has not changed. Unless I see something more worthwhile coming down the pike from them, I see myself doing my gambling on the islands rather than onboard. Just booked 3/19/18. Price for a D-1 was $950 less than regular RCL rates. But by the time I factor in my $350 C&A balcony discount it's about $600 less
Rare Denversail Posted April 18, 2016 #660 Share Posted April 18, 2016 I was just able to have the tax/port free sale applied to my booking with casino rates/discounts. Knocked off a couple hundred more from booking. Might want to check it out. I didn't expect to be able to combine it with CR rate.

Thanks for the heads up.i tried but it didn't work out for me for existing bookings (they're all in groups). And sail date is by 3/31/17...but for new bookings of 6+ nights, not in a group, and sailing by Mar. 2017 that's a good deal
MaritimeR&R Posted April 18, 2016 #662 Share Posted April 18, 2016 (edited) Thanks, but my only sailings in 2016 are on the Freedom and I booked them quite awhile back -- paying 1082.pp and 1108.pp for a JS, respectively. Even if the promo could be appied to them, the casino rate due to the price increase since then is higher now than what I paid. rte Posted April 18, 2016 #663 Share Posted April 18, 2016 Hi all we got off voyager of the seas three weeks ago While on board I was asked to join up to Club Royale When I got home they offered me $300 for my Christmas cruise to spend at the casino, which was booked before this cruise I thought this was quite generous
Ctrinh225 Posted April 18, 2016 #664 Share Posted April 18, 2016 I just called CR and asked about Harmony 3 day teaser on November 5. Surprised they gave me a free OV. Just pay taxes/tips. Total for 2 is only $255. That's soooo freaking cheap! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DianeandMark Posted April 22, 2016 #665 Share Posted April 22, 2016 (edited) I have a question for all the seasoned CR members. I was invited into the members club in January this year and received a comped cruise in April. There was no Casino Host on board in April and the Casino manager told us they couldn't give out any cruise certificates as RCI won't be cruising here again until November. He told me RCI would be contacting all Aussie members to let them know of the changes and what we were entitled to. My question....I want to book another cruise but am not sure whether to wait until I hear from Royal. On the last cruise I accumulated 4800 points over 8 days. Any suggestions? Thanks, Diane Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Edited April 22, 2016 by DianeandMark

stleda124 Posted April 30, 2016 #670 Share Posted April 30, 2016 I got the certificate for free cruise or 750 off set sail before September 1st. We already know which one we are going to book but I am waiting until May 1st. Hopefully the 30% off sale will come back as it is a better deal. Anyway, once I book through Royal, can I transfer the booking to my travel agent to pic up OBC? Also, I was given a certificate with a code on it. Is that making me part of Club Royale or did I have to specifically ask? I met and talked with the Casino Host three times (once for the first free cruise) once in passing and once for the second free cruise which replaced the first as a better offer and she never mentioned anything to me. Lastly, is there a chance I could be offered money to spend at the casino on my upcoming cruise (once I book it)? Is that rare or quite frequent. I accumulated a total of 3700 points. Thanks in advance!!!!!

Katherine Concur----you do get double points sailing solo and also on "free" cruises given by CR, Is it possible to get more than one of those free cruise certs on one sailing? Not possible, unless, you and your significant other are both CR members and you both qualify for a certificate.

If not, confirm with CR. Obtaining 3700 points I would think you are now a member. CR discontinued giving out their cash rebates to spend in the casinos on March 15 2016. Thanks in advance!!!!! Okay! So if you saw my previous post. I hit 2400 points and received the free cruise certificate. For me, the "free" cruise cost $550 (losses). I was booked on carnival for July (a 21 year old sister and me 26, so it made sense). But with this I have cancelled the Carnival Cruise (2000) to book a cruise through Royal. I do not like any of the free cruises, but! there is a casino rate I can get instead or use the 750 credit which is in place of the "free cruise". They are closed now so I figured I would head to the boards to see if anyone knows what the casino rate would be. She said anywhere from 20% to 40% off sometimes combinable. What are your experiences with this? Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Just quoting your other post to clarify Was it 2400 or 3700 ;) 400pts =$100 So would be $600 or $900 2400 $12,000 dropped 3700 $18,500 dropped Sure that will get you a CR VIP invite:D But anyways Call CR and see if they can apply the $750 to a cruise that had to have been booked by March 15th 2016 They might even extend that to other booking, who knows these days with anything CR are doing Also not combinable with C&A or BOGO offers Edited April 30, 2016 by PompeySailor

The cruise was until the 27th. I hit 2400 on the 24th. On the 26th night I had 3700. They have changed so your point calculation is incorrect. 2400= 500 off. 3600= 750 off. As mentioned previously, I had lost 550 for the "free cruise" that I posted on the 24th. The 26th, I switched to roulette after I hit the points and won 425. Total loss 275. Can't comment on your 18500 dropped. I went in with 1000 walked out with 725. The certificate is valid April 26th through May 26th for sailings up till September 1st. So don't know where your dates are from but they are incorrect. Don't try and fact check me. I was on a cruise and never came back on to say what I won because my questions had been answered. Now go scour my posts checking dates and amounts. Carry on Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
