Casino Program Changes

Recommended Posts

Just to clarify -i only received OBC because of the advertised special on the RCCL website along with the BOGO60 discount. This was not something special to the Club Royale. The only "extra" that Club Royale gave me was the $500 off the cost of my cruise as the casino slot credit.

This is the first time I've ever heard of someone getting dollars off a cruise (from a casino cert.) in combination with a standard RCI promo (BOGO60). That's very interesting. I would have thought that if you received a certificate (or in your case, 2 certificates) that you would qualify for the casino rate, which is almost ALWAYS a better deal than the current promo.

Anyone know what makes one qualify for the casino rate? I only heard about that via here so I called up and qualified for one. We booked it but not sure if I had enough points for drinks or not. I sent the casino host an email and got the same thing that was listed here about points. I'm guessing that if it had to be 1500 points on the last cruise I won't but could of been close to 1000 points.

I guess I'll find out when I board.

From what I was told by Casino Royale, to qualify for casino rates they look at your last cruise only, and the greater amount of points you earned the better (or higher % off the FULL price) you get. So for example if someone earned 2000 points on their last cruise may qualify for 40% off of full price for a given cruise, whereas someone who earned 6000 points off their last cruise may get 75% off.

On a side note (and as someone who will earn at least 6000 pts per cruise on average), I find it hard to believe that if I low or no play them one cruise (as a previous 6000 pts per cruise customer) the would not extend a good casino rate to me...but you never know!

Sooo quite here.... Any last news? updates? Will be on Brilliance in 23 days :) out of Barcelona 12 days

Alla - we will be on the Jewel 9 night out of Rome May 6. - Italy and Greece ports. 7 ports. 2 sea days. Not a relaxing cruise...but will be fabulous! (And on a cruise like this not alot of casino time.) We were going to do the crossing from Puerto Rico to Rome but DH had a work project that couldn't get switched. We'll need to catch up on sleep when we are flying back....I thought about the Brilliance cruise but we have always wanted to spend time in the Greek Islands. We have booked NY's eve on Anthem. Can you join us?

I have been on the Brilliance Dec. 8th, March 2, and March 25th. On all three occasions the VIP and waiver for fee on cash advances was on the card when we checked in at the terminal. Shirley has been the casino host on all three occasions and that may be something that she has done. Don't know if other ships are doing it. Also, she announced in the casino that if you reach 1,000 points, look her up and she will give you a VIP sticker for free drinks from the Casino bar only. I think 2500 point gets a free inside cabin. Dates and ships for free cruises are done by the calendar quarter. JAN-MARCH quarter 1. In the past certificates only included the first and second quarter - so half of your options have sailed or booked. They have added an extra quarter to the certificates. So quarter 1 will include trips through Sept. We are taking a break for the summer but will be back in the casino when the Brilliance returns from the Med. Happy sailing to all.

I can give some updates as it concerns high Diamond Plus solo cruisers.

I have cruised twice in January and once in March - all were balcony certificates. (I'm a 'heritage' CR VIP)

When booking a cruise - they now can see Crown and Anchor rates, as well as casino rates. In my case, Crown and Anchor is always cheaper as I get the 150 single supplement rate. However, they now have changed the rules - certificates and cruise discounts cannot be applied to Crown and Anchor rates. So for high level Crown and Anchor - Club Royale certificates are worthless, unless you opt to book at the higher casino price.

Also applying certificates to existing casino rate cruises will reprice the cruise using the current rules.

I just booked a lot of cruises during the last two weeks with CR and all were booked with Crown and Anchor rates, as the rates were cheaper.

CR is worthless to me, with these changes.

I'm just the messenger.

We received the certificates for the $ off on our last cruise. It looks like that is not combinable with any other rates (C/A, or casino) is that right?

Also according to the host on the FR we earned enough for VIP on the next cruise but I have a feeling that varies on ships.

I just wonder if I should try to use the certificate on a short cruise or longer cruise. I don't want to loose the VIP status on a short cruise cause I'm not sure I could get 1,000 points on a short cruise like I was able to on a 8night.

You should be able to use it on an existing booking (that sails with in year), if it was booked with a casino rate, just not a crown and anchor rate - unless you rebook under a casino rate. However, your existing booking will get repriced with today's rate for the cruise, which will possibly reduce the discount value of your certificate.

You can use it against any new booking that is priced with casino rates.

Under the new rules, if you don't earn enough points on your next cruise then you will lose your sticker and status on your subsequent cruise, but you can always try to get enough points again.
