Mr Luxury Posted October 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 6, 2014 We would like to take a cruise that includes New Year's Eve, ideally in the Caribbean, bur other area would be OK. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks Marypat There are quit a few of us who travel at Christmas and New Year. Many of us are on the Sojourn from Cape Town to Cape Town Dec 21st this year. You could also try a Panama Canal trip that Seabourn often does at Christmas. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Martita B. Posted October 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2014 I've been aboard both the Pride and the Spirit for their Christmas & New Years fantantic Caribbean sailings a few times. You will literally be in Holiday Heaven booking either one ~~ Seabourn takes the best of "our own home's" plus, it's own small Island, that moves ~~ New Year's you will be spending in French, St Barth's ~~THE place to be at sea ~~ Enjoy your holidays ~I am tempted to be aboard also. johnnycruise Posted October 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 7, 2014 Suggest you make a decision soon as availability appears to be getting scarce on the New Year's cruises. If you choose the Caribbean, I agree with Martita - take the itinerary that includes a stop at St. Bart's (and also Jost van Dyke with the infamous Foxy). stamfordian Posted October 8, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 8, 2014 (and also Jost van Dyke with the infamous Foxy). Why "infamous"? Webster's and OED define infamous as ": well-known for being bad : known for evil acts or crimes : causing people to think you are bad or evil" and "well-known for some bad quality or deed". johnnycruise Posted October 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 8, 2014 Infamous? Maybe because Foxy has a bad reputation and an evil sense of humor. bad (adj.) very good, excellent evil (adj.) good, pleasing (The Online Slang Dictionary):p
T&C Fulham Posted October 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Foxy. And there is a far more pleasant and less touristy bar a short walk along the beach. Worth the effort finding it. I can't remember the name but can dig it out if anyone wants. Tony
Martita B. Posted October 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 9, 2014 I've met Foxy ~he's a little rough a'round the edges! But super nice gentleman who enjoys Texas Cowgirls~~ we had a good time raising a stem! Also, "The Soggy Dollar" is a fun place to hang out. T&C Fulham Posted October 9, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 9, 2014 I think I am getting confused. The Soggy Dollar is the busy one. Foxy has the smaller one along the beach. Yes? Tony
Able Seaman H Posted October 9, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Just to help you make your decision a video from last Christmas / New Year on board Sojourn. As Mr L says, this year it's South Africa. We'll see you there .......... :) Henry

Tony Seddy (Foxy's Nephew I believe) has the One Love Bar on White Bay Beach. It is probably our fave as it is much less hectic. :D It is a short walk down from the Soggy Dollar Bar. Mr Luxury Posted October 9, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 9, 2014 Haven't met Handre yet, but have heard good things here so I'll look forward to it. Thanks for that. He's South African and plays the piano and is a composer. He has a nice calm approach to his job unlike a few manic CDs that we have seen. I was reading here a few weeks ago about one CD who was making constant announcements, that would drive me quite batty.
Rare marazul Posted October 9, 2014 #18 Share Posted October 9, 2014 We have been on three cruises with Handre and I can't say good enough about him. He is delightful and a real gentleman. He handles his duties in a calm, relaxed manner and is always on top of things. And he is a gifted musician and entertainer. SB is lucky to have him. I do hope he is on our next cruise! (And I hope some of the other cruise directors take him as an example.)
