Couple of more thoughts come to mind

If you are sensitive to smoke stay away from the casino. Even though there are suppose to be non-smoking areas you couldn't help but smell the smoke as soon as you enter the Casino.

I did see a mother and her 2 sons standing off to the side on formal night at MDR because the boys had on t-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes.

Spending time along the Promenade is well worth it. Enjoy a beverage

coffee , soda, cocktail and just Chill!

We will be going in 11 days to start our back to back on freedom, on formal night did many men have tux on and did the ladies dress up, what were the main shows at night like in the theatre .

The only show we saw was Freedom on Ice! Heard from our table mates that the other shows were good.

Some tuxes , some suits, dress slacks/shirt/ ties. Many more with just dressy pants and collared shirts or buttoned down silky type.

I chose the later and didn't feel at all out of place.

Taps, you will see everything from tuxes/evening gowns to dressy pants and tops and suitcoats with open shirts. Pretty much anything goes these days, just do what you enjoy. Shows are good, especially the ice show. Being a bigger ship the productions tend to be a little bigger too.

Yes, my husband "discovered" them on our last Freedom cruise and will use the showers there all next week!

Said they are one of the best-kept secrets ;)

Thanks, that's exactly what I was hoping to be able to do too. With two other women in the cabin, getting ready for dinner will be challenging . Thanks again.

Thanks Jules. We actually only do b2b. 7 days is waaaay too short. Kind of love that last night of the first week when all the suitcases are in the hall and ours are nowhere to be found:) love turnaround day too......then have a whole week more to enjoy. I must confess though, the closer we are to retiring, the more b2b is hardly enough. This year we are staying 4 mire days in Orlando to recover from the b2b :) pretty sure next year will be b2b2b!!!!

Some wear tuxes and formal gowns, others wear casual dress wear. As long as you are not wearing shorts and t-shirts they no longer seem to pay much notice to your attire.

The production shows were great when we were on in February. The Beatles tribute was wonderful. They had a comedian and a magician. I don't care for those shows, but my roommate went and thought they were great!

I'll be on her again in March and my only worry is that she'll be in the same unfinished condition that Oasis is in now. I understand from reading the live reviews that it's been a nightmare onboard.

Enjoy your cruise, she's a good ship!

Yes! Then you know what I mean! So many of our friends said "two weeks on a cruise ship? That's too long" Is it too long when they stay in the same condo every year for two weeks? No way! And our scenery changes! Loved NOT putting our bags in the hall that last night of the first week...it was magical. Loved turnaround day. We could easily do a B2B2B as well. Someday! Our next FOS cruise in September is also another B2B. Look forward to checking out the drydock changes, and had even warmed up to the idea of MTD. And yes, I know it may not happen now, but I'm okay with it if it does. :)

Beerman: Glad you enjoyed your first RCCL cruise - I know it won't be your last - sorry you missed out on the M&M -

I met FloJo ... she and hubby were seated in front of us during dinner for the 1st wk , we each had tables for 2... THEN during the 2nd wk, we had side by side tables for 2 so we hooked up and had a fantastic time chatting for each time we had meals together - I didn't know she was FloJo and she didn't know I was Corkey Carol til about 3rd day of 2nd cruise - we will surely keep in touch and hope we can meet up with them again on another cruise - Also met up with 2 other couples who didn't post much on our roll calls but hope to keep in touch from now on - by chance, the other couple and we are on a cruise together next yr and we are all from CA. I am happy you had a great time and perhaps we can meet up on another RCCL cruise someday - we booked for AK while on the 2nd leg - our 3rd cruise in that area - 7days of sailing and 5 days land tour tacked on for May of next yr - regards to Sue - like your review! Corkey Carol

Thanks Carol flojo was a riot when I met her at schooner bar. Strictly by accident as we were sitting next to each other at the bar. I kinda felt like a rock star when she found out who I was. LOL

Her husband looked at her like she was crazy.

Safe travels to you and Narce and enjoy his retirement.

Our next one is on NCL Epic in Jan. with our friends from Fla.

Two new cruiselines within 4 months. It will take quite a bit to top our first RCI cruise. It truly was a GREAT experience.

I looked at the picture Uncle John posted showing the cabin numbers for the Freedom's aft balconies. I will have cabin # 8710. It looks like it doesn't have a window just a door. I hope I'm looking at it wrong. I would hate to have a balcony cabin with no window and not even a sliding door it would feel like having an inside cabin. I hope I'm wrong. Any body know for sure?

Interesting. Did you just hand write your alternate address on your passport (no address listed on US passport when as issued, IIRC)? Couldn't anybody handwrite in any address they fancy on their passport? I could write in an address in Malibu without forking over big bucks to buy a property;).

You may be right, I just assumed it had the address they mailed it to

You might want to check RCI's rules to see if passports are allowed as proof of state residency for the discount. It would be disconcering to encounter an issue at the pier on boarding day, though I bet the reps often do not ask for proof of residency (or proof one qualifies for other discounts for that matter).

Much to our surprise, the counter rep gave my daughter a hard time regarding her residency rate. They said the state for residency rate did not match the state listed on the RCCL account. Her drivers license was still in her old address, a state that allowed the rate. They asked her for several hundred dollars per person in her booking!

I took about 30 minutes to clear up, waiting for several gate agents to work it out before they would let her board.

This was a few years ago, when the Allure first started sailing. I had never seen or heard of anything this and if I had not happened to us, I would not believe it.

As for the poster who has two ID's - A driver's license and a passport to select the best residency rate - , there is no way the passport can verify state residency. If you are picking and choosing residency rates to suit, you'll need some other legal ID's with different addresses.

I am not shocked that they asked for proof if the address in their records did not match the residency requirement. I am not shocked that they'd ask for a lot of money if one cannot prove one qualifies for the special rate (residency in this case). Once the potential issue was flagged, I am not surprised more than one person had to become involved (a supervisor being called over to assess). Interesting though that it took 30 uncomfortable minutes since she produced the DL from the appropriate state...I thought that was the requirement. I recall reading a CC thread about somebody who could not prove they qualified for their special rate; it sounded uncomfortable and perhaps expensive.
