AllPointsSouth Posted October 27, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2014 Does anyone know if Sake is included in the beverage packages. On our cruise two years ago it wasn't included. Oceania's blog has a nice review on Red Ginger and Sake. It's making me hungry - and thirsty!!!!
Travelcat2 Posted October 27, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2014 On our cruise last year it wasn't included. I don't think that anything has changed.
StanandJim Posted October 27, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2014 Does anyone know if Sake is included in the beverage packages. On our cruise two years ago it wasn't included. Oceania's blog has a nice review on Red Ginger and Sake. It's making me hungry - and thirsty!!!! Sake in Red Ginger is not included in any of the Beverage Packages , and the Sake service is one area where Red Ginger could be drastically improved. Red Ginger serves several varieties of Sake, some of them very good names, but they just can't seem to get it right.
Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 27, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2014 We can concur that sake is not included in the beverages packages in Red Ginger, and it really put us off.

hondorner Posted November 6, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 6, 2014 Betsy ordered Saki in Red Ginger and several of us tried it. At least two if us had the same instantaneous reaction --Kerosene! I'll never try it again.

Wendy The Wanderer Posted November 7, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2014 I thought that was ouzo that tasted like kerosene or turpentine.:D No, ouzo tastes like licorice. Retsina can taste like turpentine. I personally like sake.
AllPointsSouth Posted November 7, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted November 7, 2014 I tried a flight of hot sake- it DOES taste like kerosine! And it went from bad to worse. I prefer unfiltered cold sake- it's milky white in color, and chilled is much better tasting. Maybe they should offer Snake in Red Ginger- it tastes like chicken! hondorner Posted November 7, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Huh -- my daddy always told me that chicken tastes like snake, but with wings and drumsticks. That made me always want to try snake...;) Wendy, I always figured Retsina is just a furrin' word for resin, which is where we get turpentine.
