Guarantee Assignment Timing

Once we didn't get ours until we checked in at the dock. We had reserved an ocean view and ended up being assigned a balcony. Sweet!

But then, if the price is right, I'm not one to worry about the assignment if we do guarantee. For those who check day in and day out and worry about it, I wouldn't book that type of room. You see people posting here all the time about booking a guarantee and then being pissy when they don't have their assignment 30 days in advance.

If you book one of those cabin types, you have to just go with the flow....

rare does it happen at 60 days.

it will not happen before final payment. ANd majority is usually around 30 days.. but yes you can get your assignment up til sailing.

and even if you are assigned it can change up til then also

Wow, I hope this doesn't happen to me , i like our cabin assignment unless they up grade us from our inside to either a higher deck or ov ( or better. )

I have not had any issues with guarantee rooms. I end up on a higher deck usually, however, if you are picky....don't do it! I have been under the pool...lots of noise late at night and early in the morning. I have been below the gym....lots of early noise but no late night noise.

I have been on balconies, ocean view and interior. It doesn't matter which of these I get. I like the darkness of the interior so I am good with having a "cheap" cruise.

But the balcony was really nice ...

Does Carnival notify you via email when they assign your cabin or do you check your booking periodically to find when they assign the cabin? First time we have booked this type but sure can't beat the savings by booking guaranteed right now!

I checked mine 3 times a day and the third time it was there

If you booked a guarantee--- and someone comes along and they want to pay the going price for that cabin the cruise lines can move you.

Its rare-- but it does happen

Do NOT give your luggage to the porter until they verify your assignment

I'm one of those picky ones who won't do a guarantee. Early in my cruising career I booked a balcony cabin right above the casino bandstand, and the noise was intolerable until the very wee hours. It was my own fault--I chose the cabin, not knowing any better. But now that I know a noisy cabin can really put a damper on my fun, I'm willing to pay more to select my own cabin.

We switched when they had the 36 hour sale. Always said I wouldn't do a guarantee, but it was $800 less than our original price; the location of the room mattered less at that time. We received our room assignment last week, 35 days prior to sail. We are happy with our empress level balcony room( we were on Lido); we are happier with the $800 savings!

We just switched due to a price drop during the 35 hour sale. We scored a very nice chunk of OBC, but I'm wondering when we will get our cabin assignment since we sail in 6 days!! For those of you who say you have gotten it at the dock, what about luggage tags?? I'd really hoped I could have them printed before we leave home a day before the cruise...

If you don't get your cabin assignment till you arrive at the ship, the porter will have your cabin number on his list and will put a luggage tag on your bag when he accepts it.

Date of Cruise: Feb 9 & 20 B2B (*Booked many months ago in assigned OV, then switched to GTY during the 35 hour sale on Nov 18th and saved $1600!!)

Ship: Carnival Triumph

Class of Guarantee: OV Guarantee

Cabin Assigned: assigned OV 6B, same room for both segments, and THRILLED with the room - it's the exact same one we had originally picked, extra large corner aft! Couldn't be happier with the results!!

Date Assigned: yesterday, 68 days before sailing

Booked a oceanview guarantee for my cruise on Breeze approximately 60 days out - currently 38 days out but no assignment yet. Ship doesn't seem to be close to sold out yet though.

Assigned Dec 11, 31 days out.

  • 4 weeks later...

We booked a guarantee suite on Pride 2 weeks ago and received assigned 34 days out - cabin 7345. While I'm ok with the assignment, I did a "mock booking" and see that there are several mid-ship suites on deck 6 still available. From what I've read I believe the balconies on midship deck 6 might be deeper than the one we were assigned. I haven't done a guarantee in over 10 years and realize the assignement is the luck of the draw. May be a stupid question but just curious if there is any chance of requesting change to another cabin in same category after guarantee was assigned if they are available? We are now 31 days from sailing.
