dkc1973 Posted October 31, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2014 We leave on the Dream on Sunday. I'm wondering if I'm going to regret it if I board the ship in shorts and no jacket. I'm thinking the time on the river may be windy and cool since the high temp for NOLA is 66. Anyone been out there recently? bruadhin Posted October 31, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2014 I can't speak to the current conditions, but you will find the river much windier than you imagined. It definitely will feel cooler than the temperature would suggest. Once the ship gets moving and if you are in an exposed area, it will be even worse. If you are the type to be cool, you'll probably want a jacket.
gregg204 Posted October 31, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Bring the jacket. With the time change Saturday night the sun will be close to setting when you sail and it will get a lot colder in the river.

skrufy Posted October 31, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Good idea. When you get out into the open ocean the ships speed generates a stiff breeze that can be real cool especially at night. The dining room and the theater can be cool also.
amethyst08 Posted October 31, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Bring a jacket. We sailed out of NOLA this time last year and it was windy when we set sail. It wasn't cold...cold...but windy chilly. :D
OCruisers Posted October 31, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2014 Take your jacket with you Sunday and have a WONDERFUL cruise! :D LuLu
misguidedangel Posted October 31, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2014 I live in a northern climate and I wouldn't need it, but would have a light jacket with me anyhow because the ship can get cold with the AC. Canadians are hardy people, we will wear shorts and a tank top and say it is a beautiful night when it is 66F, heck, I'll wear shorts and a tank top to work when it is 15C... marshhawk Posted November 1, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 1, 2014 Watching the shore line going down the river is fantastic, but I would also suggest a pair of jeans too. It is windy on the river, the ships are so much taller than what grows along the shore, so the wind just whips around the ship. Have a great cruise! chill6x6 Posted November 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 1, 2014 (edited) Definitely a jacket and probably jeans. And remember…it's probably going to be dark-thirty or pretty close when y'all depart... It may take a sea day before the temperature gets warm... RuthlessBoss Posted November 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 1, 2014 If it's chilly and windy, bring a jacket/sweatshirt and long pants as a backup. If you don't, and it's cool, I'm not sure if the onboard shops would be open that soon into the cruise.
