cadien Posted November 1, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2014 The New Yorker does a food issue every November and this year they include a piece on the state of cruise ship cuisine : http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2014/11/03/floating-feasts It's set on the Oasis but of course covers more general topics as well. He does start out snarky but the behind the scenes detail is interesting. (Apologies if my search missed an active thread.)

Daisyloo Posted November 2, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 2, 2014 That was really interesting. I thought the part about the hand sanitizer, Purell, not being just the ordinary one, but a special formula especially for cruise ships, hospitals etc. a very interesting bit of info. Next time a hand sanitizer thread gets going, and one will, this would be something to add to the discussion. :)

sparky-elpaso Posted November 2, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 2, 2014 Thanks for the link - interesting article. We just returned from a Princess cruise and went on the Ultimate Ship Tour where we spent time in the galley and food storage areas so I've seen some of the things he talked about (although on a smaller scale than the Oasis).
