cranethie Posted November 7, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Zuiderdam was my first cruise ship. Still have special feelings for her. Mine too - Alaska September 2006. Sailed on her again - Alaska September 2010. :)

0bnxshs Posted November 7, 2014 #28 Share Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) Haven't sailed on Z'dam yet. Plan to sometime though. Can anyone tell if the jetway is still up? Edited November 7, 2014 by 0bnxshs
Lizzie68 Posted November 7, 2014 #29 Share Posted November 7, 2014 I must say I have a soft spot for the Zuiderdam, too - I've sailed on her 3 times. But my overall favourite is the Volendam. Where's the shark?
Rare Scrapnana Posted November 7, 2014 #30 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Another medical! I really feel bad for those people who get on board then get sick - better than at sea, but still!

dfish Posted November 7, 2014 #33 Share Posted November 7, 2014 How disappointing for the poor person with the medical issue. I hope it isn't serious.
aliaschief Posted November 7, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) One has to wonder about these medical's right before sailing. Are the folks to frail for the Muster Drill or is it a combination of travel, embarkation that catches up with them. I have seen a lot of folks really struggling at Muster with prolonged standing. Minne Wonka Girl Posted November 7, 2014 #35 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Just now disembarked the Zuiderdam after a charity luncheon for Seafarer's House followed by an awards ceremony in the theater. Passengers were going up the gangway as we were going down.

dfish Posted November 7, 2014 #37 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Could be any of those reasons. I would think if they were just overwhelmed from travel that sitting down and having something cool to drink might help. But, another reason to fly in the day before so that you are well rested. Lizzie68 Posted November 7, 2014 #38 Share Posted November 7, 2014 Looks like the gangway is down. Can't see a white truck, though.

Me too, Chief. But I do wonder if it's the anticipation piled up on the travel that causes so many. Seems like a lot of medicals on embarkation day, both from watching here and from first-hand experience (not a medical of my own but being aboard ship and seeing a medical happen.) Seems like a lot of medicals on embarkation day, both from watching here and from first-hand experience (not a medical of my own but being aboard ship and seeing a medical happen.) We often wonder how some of the pax's could even make it to the ship. Bless them but when we get to that point our cruising days will be over.
