love2traveljen Posted November 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2014 We are taking a cruise right after xmas (27) so we have decided that it will be everyone's big present this year. But we will still do stockings. I have 2 teenage girls, which their stocking stuffers are quite easy. But I'm having a hard time for ideas for a 9yr old boy. So far I have a m underwater camera and a journal. I'm stuck on more ideas! Thanks! Jen
pamlkirby Posted November 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Goggles, flip flops, football he can play in the ocean with (plastic type one), rash guard, swimming trunks. My boys are 10 and 11 and even still like the cheap inflatable pool toys. Blow them up the day you are in port. Play with it in the ocean. Throw it away before getting back on ship or give it to someone at the beach when you leave. 😊 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
pamlkirby Posted November 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2014 My oldest son says a soda card for the cruise. Haha! We don't keep soda in our home. It's a treat when we go out to eat so he thinks the soda card would be awesome. Haha! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Sauer-kraut Posted November 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2014 How about some fun luggage tags?
sail7seas Posted November 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) Those tags are great. What fun. :) OP.... how about a travel DVD player he could use on the plane or some quiet time in your cabin? OCruisers Posted November 9, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Consider stuffing a stocking for him with lots of crumbled up $1.00 bills and some $5.00 bills so he'll have "walking around" money on your ports of call. ;) LuLu

If any ship will have them, I imagine an RCI one will. The idea of $$ is great. :)

Hflors Posted November 9, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Wow! There are some great ideas here. I was thinking that between the dollar bills and the cards for soda and onboard spending you may spend more money on the "stocking stuffers" than what it costs to bring your 9 year old on board!!! hehehehe!!!! I hope you and your family have a wonderful cruise together!!!!!
Suzanne123 Posted November 9, 2014 #13 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Many years ago, I worked at NOAA in the Nautical Chart Division. I think a 9 year old might like a nautical chart of the area you are cruising. I just looked, and NOAA no longer sells them directly to the public, but you can get "print on demand" charts from other vendors or maybe a boating shop if one is handy. hannahouse Posted November 9, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 9, 2014 I bought my son some small binoculars and he used them a lot on the cruise.
Sue Do-Over Posted November 9, 2014 #15 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Swim goggles (pool is salt water) Headphones for his choice of music/game player Video downloads on player (use your WiFi at home, not mobile data) for him to watch at the airport, on the plane or after he's stuck in the cabin for the evening. terri-eddie Posted November 9, 2014 #16 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Sunscreen....you can get the small ones with a clip to fasten on your belt loops. A new ball cap for the sunny days in port. A cool backpack with lots of pockets for storage, to use on the journey to the cruise, and even in ports. Books for the journey, if he likes to read, or travel entertainment of whatever sort he enjoys. Sunglasses.
shealea Posted November 9, 2014 #17 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Disposable cameras. It would be really cool to see what a 9-year-old would feel important to take pictures of! Fun!
