webjamn Posted November 13, 2014 #126 Share Posted November 13, 2014 We just received an email update from Princess... Embarkation 5:00 to 8:00pm Sunday 16th. They have rescinded their previous offer to refund one cruise day and will now credit the value of one and a half cruise days to your shipboard account. Guess we'll be drinking a lot of cocktails! The crew member is recovering nicely. Norvirus confirmed. Several cases. They are taking required action.
Wehwalt Posted November 13, 2014 #127 Share Posted November 13, 2014 They have increased it to one and a half day because we will effectively be on the ship for only 5 1/2 days because of the very late boarding due to Norovirus will pretty much put an end to too much activity first night. it would not surprise me if Muster drill were at 9 PM. They really haven't increased their offer they've just taken into account the additional delays due to the norovirus
shrec Posted November 13, 2014 #128 Share Posted November 13, 2014 We bought the drink package and I am hoping I will get refunded for days missed, but I need to know if anyone knows if we don't use the obc will it get refunded to my credit card at end of trip? I am still trying hard to be positive but all in all I am so worried&disappointed!
likeadisguise Posted November 13, 2014 #129 Share Posted November 13, 2014 If you don't use all the OBC, get cash at the end of the cruise. Otherwise they'll send you a check for the balance, which takes a few weeks. You should definitely get a refund on your drink package, probably the same day and a half as the other refund? paul929207 Posted November 13, 2014 #130 Share Posted November 13, 2014 Since the ill employee is not Princess's fault, I think the offer is pretty good. We have missed a number of ports over the years and never got anything but a refund of the port charges for the missed port.

paul929207 Posted November 13, 2014 #132 Share Posted November 13, 2014 How many formal nights will we have on this now delayed sailing? I think you will have to check the Princess Patter when you board.

Go to the casino and you can put all your obc onto your ship pass, then take it to the cashier at the casino and they pay it out to you in cash. arizonaperson Posted November 15, 2014 #135 Share Posted November 15, 2014 One of the ship trackers says ETA on 11-16-2014 of 1600 UTC,which I believe is 9am CA. time to arrive in San Pedro. arizonaperson Posted November 15, 2014 #136 Share Posted November 15, 2014 Has anyone heard if there is in fact Noro-Virus on board? If you go to the website http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/outbreak/2014/november16_crown_princess.htm the information is there. Says voyage date of October 18-November 16, 2014. Number of passengers reported being ill 158/3,009. Number of crew reported ill 14/1,160. Causative agent norovirus. A CDC vessel sanitation program environmental health officer will board the ship in San Pedro,CA on November 16, 2014.

It doesn't really matter since we can't even START boarding until 5 PM! :( Two extra days to pack can be a very dangerous thing for me!:D I WISH!!! IECalCruiser Posted November 16, 2014 Author #138 Share Posted November 16, 2014 The Crown is now back in range for my Marine Traffic app. She is still showing arrival in San Pedro at 5:00 tomorrow morning or about 10 hours from now. SoCal Cruiser78 Posted November 16, 2014 #139 Share Posted November 16, 2014 If they can reschedule, they might ditch Cabo since it's still in a state of repair/recovery??? That is what I was thinking, but time will tell!
Cruisin' Chick Posted November 16, 2014 #140 Share Posted November 16, 2014 There was just a story on our local (LA) NBC station that said there was a Noro outbreak on the Crown.

bigwally Posted November 16, 2014 #144 Share Posted November 16, 2014 There was just a story on our local (LA) NBC station that said there was a Noro outbreak on the Crown. KTLA was just live from the port waiting on her to dock. 170+ sick. CDC expected to board when she docks. Passengers to be disembarked in stages (don't know how that will be any different from normal) "to keep the virus from spreading".
melsal Posted November 16, 2014 #145 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Here in Northern California....leaving in a few hours for San Pedro. Boarding begins at 5 pm so no early morning drive. Wehwalt Posted November 16, 2014 #146 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Great! :p. How long do the Noro precautions last? We got Noro on the Pacific Princess on the transatlantic in 2012, picked it up from a Costa vessel where we shared shuttles in Gibraltar. It was under control before Bermuda, but they kept up the precautions until Fort Lauderdale, where a full-scale cleaning like the Crown is gonna get, was planned. A lot more disinfecting of surfaces, and we were served from the buffet. I think it's possible that was done, and that it might be kept up as far as Cabo, so the Mexican authorities can send health people aboard too if they care to. bigwally Posted November 16, 2014 #148 Share Posted November 16, 2014 KTLA just put out a call for anyone on board watching the show to contact them or email photos and video, so might be worth watching this morning for more insights.
shastatroy Posted November 16, 2014 #149 Share Posted November 16, 2014 Sick passengers will disembark first, then everything the passengers may have touched getting off will be disinfected, lessing the risk of non-infected passengers from getting sick. Then the rest will disembark.
RickEk Posted November 16, 2014 #150 Share Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) KTLA just put out a call for anyone on board watching the show to contact them or email photos and video, so might be worth watching this morning for more insights. KTLA's coverage has bordered on the hysterical. They have asserted that the crewmember was taken off the ship because of the norovirus.... we all know here that he had appendicitis. 4% of the folks onboard had norovirus. Not really a "breaking news" event. I'm sure they're going to be looking to interview that one passenger who will have big complaints... and not the majority that had a great time. Edited November 16, 2014 by RickEk
