kpreid Posted November 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2014 Somehow I was unlucky enough to book a cruise during the iron Bowl (Alabama vs Auburn) - hey it's for his birthday so give me a break :o But now I'm concerned the ESPN on board won't be "real" ESPN, anyone know if they'll have the real deal? We leave out of Port Everglades at 4pm and the game is at 7:45 Eastern.
RoperDK Posted November 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2014 We are sailing during the Iron Bowl too. I am interested in the answer to this one. Lots of good games that day. Dawn
kpreid Posted November 12, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Last year we were on the Westerdam for the Alabama-LSU game and all they had on "ESPN" was soccer :-( Watching online would have been cost prohibitive but I tried everything I could to pull it off, even using my phone as a hotspot. kpreid Posted November 12, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted November 12, 2014 That will work, crossing fingers and holding breath :-) This whole playoff system has me on pins and needles. Never know how they're gonna judge everyone.
Albums in the Attic Posted November 12, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Not 100% certain. But, if you are leaving the day of the game, you'll have some time before you switch to ESPN Deportes. (Once you are well into the Caribbean, it switches.) You may be in luck. If it does switch, I bet they play it in the EA Sports Bar. We are leaving Sat and curious if we'll see Miami/FSU. kpreid Posted November 12, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Just think how much money they stand to make in the bars if they cover all the networks and ESPN on any football Saturday in the fall. Can't imagine they don't have marketing folks somewhere tallying up that tab!
CJinFLA00 Posted November 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2014 EA sports bar is awesome on the Freedom. We watched college on Sat and pros on Sunday. Get there early. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
loanshark Posted November 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) In the same boat (no pun intended) as the original poster. From past experience on Carnival ships with a game I wanted to see on the US version of ESPN, I have lucked out and they had a satellite feed of the game playing somewhere in one of the public areas every time except once. Hopefully my cruise on the Liberty in a couple of weeks will not be the 2nd time. Edited November 12, 2014 by loanshark
me3260 Posted November 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 12, 2014 We just got back Sunday from the freedom 8 day cruise. Yes they will have the game in the EA bar by the casino. Also, they have the games on in the Red Frog pub. We watched NFL in their as the ea bar was packed on Sunday. They will not lose normal ESPN until they get near either Cuba or the DR depending on what cruise you take.
kpreid Posted November 12, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted November 12, 2014 Cool, we have 2 days before the DR. Thanks everyone, it's going to be a great cruise :p
Wareaglegirl Posted November 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2014 WE were hoping that "the game" would be shown in the Sports Bar. Wasn't thinking when I booked this cruise last January. Looking forward to a great cruise. War Eagle!
kpreid Posted November 12, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted November 12, 2014 I wasn't thinking about the date either, just that I wanted us to be cruising on my husband's birthday (the 3rd). Looking forward to warmer weather - ROLL TIDE!!
