But assuming you somehow manage to get that large box on board, or if you wind up only bringing smaller boxes, and you have the wine in your cabin there's no corkage fee. The cabins have wine glasses and if you need more, your cabin steward will provide. You can carry your glass of cabin poured wine to the MDR with you. Corkage is only if you ask them to store it for you and them pour at your table.

Sure you can...

...if you have no ethics or self respect.

How is this any different from bringing in a glass of wine or any other drink from one of the bars? If you are drinking the wine that you legally brought on board, who cares? I doubt the MDR staff will care where it came from!

Or any different from bringing a bottle of wine from your room that you have already uncorked?! My DH always drinks a glass of wine while I am getting ready and then brings the bottle with him to the dining room. I had no idea we were being unethical or disrespectful! I thought that was the reason we brought the wine on with us in the first place.

Genuinely curious here... what does ethics have to do with this? I'm not a big wine drinker so maybe I'm overlooking some inside-baseball knowledge. Is it really bad form to bring a glass of wine with you to dinner?

A corkage fee has nothing to do with opening the bottle. It is a charge for allowing you to bring your own.

I don't take my open bottle to the dining room, but I have been known to take a glass.

Normally, I drink my carry-on wine in the cabin and purchase a wine package. That way I have a bottle of red and one of white already waiting after the first night.

But, next cruise, I'm on a Premier Casino cruise. I will have no qualms about getting a glass of wine while in the casino (I get the Drinks on Us card on this one) and taking it to the MDR when I'm ready.

There are lot of other things happening on Carnival cruises that are pushing the boundaries of "ethical" and "self-respecting" than carrying in a glass of wine.

Wrong, Corkage fees have everything to do with opening the bottle and the "ceremony" that goes with it. If the bottle is not finished they will also store it and serve during another dinner. There is no fee for bring the wine on board as long as you don't bring it un opened to the MDR

Wow, I am really confused now, I thought you get two free bottles when boarding but had to pay a $15.00 fee for every bottle over two. Even if you only have it in your room.

I hope I did not start a war here, and again thank you.:(

You are only allowed to bring one 750 ML bottler per person.

One bottle per adult, no more. (sure, some try to pack it, or bring more in their carry on stuff. Some get by, most don't, but this isn't a question about "smuggling")

If you consume it in your room there is no fee at all. People have no idea if you got it from your room or from the bar as you walk down the Promenade, and quite honestly nobody really cares either.

If you bring the bottle to the MDR there are mixed answers about the fee. Hard and fast rule is that they are supposed to charge you. Some say that they get charged the fee, others report that they don't. It depends on the ship and the wait staff. Some have even reported that bringing an open bottle to the table has resulted in a fee. Just like many other things w/Carnival - it will vary from ship to ship, crew to crew.

However the rule that is 99% followed is you must bring your 1 bottle per legal aged person on board in your carry on luggage and if you try to bring more or put it in your hold bags it is smuggleing and if found will be taken away form you and you will have to go to the naughty room to get your bag.

One free bottle per adult 21+. That's it. Anything more will be confiscated. Anything not a 750ml bottle will be confiscated. You can pour in your room and carry it wherever you want. You may or may not get charged a fee for them to open it in the MDR for you.

Yep!! Sorry, meant the corkage issue would vary.

They just put a note in your luggage that it was taken. They still delivered it. No naughty room involved.

Ok last question, I am traveling with someone and bringing 6 750ml bottles, so two are free and then I will pay $60.00 to get the other 4 bottles on the ship. Is that correct? Thanks :)

NO. You are allowed one bottle per adult. That's it. No more. No paying for more. ONE per ADULT.
