port Canaveral - what the heck is happening today!!

Been stuck at the hertz rental centre since ten thirty. Rumours of a fire on a cardinal ship and explorer coming late into port??? People are getting ready to riot...

Not sure if Ex was late. Was scheduled to arrive at 7:30 and when I checked the webcam at 7:45 this morning she was already docked.

Four ships in port today could be part of the issue. Explorer seems to have arrived at 6:37 this morning.

Last message we got from Carol, who was on board EX, was over 3 hours ago and she said no one had gotten off yet.

If no one has gotten off the ship yet, blame customs. They are the ones to release the ship. Not RCCL. They want the people off asap to get the ship ready for the next cruise, which is later in the PM.

That seems fairly minor...not sure why the cruise terminals would be affected (at least once the fire trucks were able to get to the scene).

From the florida today webcam view, it appears that passengers are entering the terminal.

 

I wonder if the broken lifeboat davit gave the coast guard cause to do an inspection before anyone was allowed to board.

I shot this pic around 10 this morning... perhaps getting the damaged life boat ashore before they could bring the gangway to the ship. The life boat can be seen in the lower left. Not that it means anything, I did not see any fire activity while I was there.

I have a feeling the Coasties made them fix everything before they could head out from the rogue wave. The glass doors, the life raft, might have been more problems that needed to be fixed in port from it. It was fun seeing it all lit up. Think I saw the QE2 go out at night.

Lifeboat:

 

In port this morning (10-ish to 11-ish), they used a crane and removed lifeboat #20 (mine ;) ) and I saw a truck bringing in a new lifeboat.

 

I took pictures and will post them on "my" thread soon.
