FastCruise Posted November 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 17, 2014 Heading out on the NCL Gem in mid December and I'm looking for the best, most inexpensive way to get 8 of us and our luggage from Toms River, NJ to the terminal. Thank you for your suggestions.
njhorseman Posted November 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) Generally, "best" and "most inexpensive" are polar opposites. Most inexpensive is likely a NJ Transit bus from Toms River to Port Authority Bus Terminal, followed by walking from Port Authority to the cruise terminal. Since it's likely to be on the cold side for a walk, pile into a couple of taxis instead for a short, inexpensive ($10-12 per taxi) cab ride from Port Authority to the cruise terminal (Pier 88). Best is taking a car service (using either a large van or limo) from Toms River directly to the cruise terminal. This is likely to be the most expensive way to go, but by far the "best" in terms of convenience. Call some local car/limo services to check their prices. Other than driving your own car(s), I can't think of any other options. There's no NJ Transit train service that runs near Toms River. Closest train station is probably Bay Head Junction, close to 20 miles away. Edited November 17, 2014 by njhorseman
Rare mskaufman Posted November 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 17, 2014 I would agree that a car service is "best". We did the same from Long Island and from there we do have a railroad option.

Thank you for your suggestions. no inexpensive way for a large group unless you take the bus as described above. Try one of the airport services near you house that has large vans.(airporter for one)

marco Posted November 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2014 We've been 8 and 10 people going to either NYC or NJ cruise terminal and a van or mini party bus for 8, the cost per person really is not all that expensive and considering you just put your luggage on, take it off when you arrive, for the ease and convenience, it's SOOOO worth it. And coming home, the van/bus has always been there always waiting for us, load up, jump on, head home with NO effort or inconvenience.
