Drink packages worth it?

Recommended Posts

Are the drink packages worth it?? I'm not a big drinker maybe one or two, but my husband would like to have a couple a day.

Based on what you are saying, even the least expensive drink package that includes alcohol probably wouldnt be worth it to either of you. You would very likely come out cheaper paying by the drink

If you are only drinking one or two per day, the drink package is not worth it. Packages can't be shared, so one of you or both of you would need to buy it. If you aren't drinking 6-7 drinks per day, you would be best just buying the drinks when you want them.

Depending on what drinks you like, you would each need to consume around 6 drinks a day to make buying a drink package less expensive than paying for each drink. And you would have to do that every day of the cruise, port days too.

So probably the cheapest with sodas and water will be fine and pay the alcoholic drinks out of pocket??

The least expensive is soda only, no bottled water, for $6.50 per day.

The next cheapest is soda, bottled water, specialty coffee, non-alcoholic cocktails, and fresh squeezed OJ, for $19 per day.

If you don't want bottled water and soda; regular water, iced tea, lemonade, juices from concentrate (OJ and Apple) as well as fruit flavored juices, hot tea, coffee, and hot chocolate packets are included for no extra charge. No drink package is necessary unless you want something specifically in that package, which you can order a la carte anyway.

Does anyone know the name brands of beer and prices cocktails the premium package includes????

The Premium and Ultimate packages include drinks up to $12. Drinks over $12 would be charged only the amount over $12.

Not 100% sure about the beer, but here is a pub menu that was used in the past. Beers with an asterisk were excluded from the packages:

Which package is the best for your money in the long run??

Here's an Excel spreadsheet to help you determine if buying a beverage package make sense for you.

Enter the values for the number of beverages you think you'll consume each day and the total number of days of the cruise and it will crunch the numbers for you.

The prices might not be spot on, but it will give you a general idea of what you might spend.

The drink packages are priced on a daily rate, like $50 a day or similar. So unless you can drink that much per day, it probably isn't worth it.

I get the drink package each time and pay for it months ahead of time. Then when the cruise come, I don't have to worry about it or keep track of how many I have to drink to make the package worth it. I can just relax and get a drink if I want one.

Nice job on the Excel Spreadsheet! I did modify a couple of items as most beers are 4.50-5 a piece and I'd drink wines at $12 a glass with my premium package and plenty of bottled water and a few cocktails.

I'd say have breakfast around 10, and at 11 AM I'd start drinking, have 1 frozen cocktail at $10-12 + gratuity, a few beers afterwards, and 1-2 bottles of waters in between all by the pool or in the casino, that will take me to 1 or 2 PM depending on my mood. Then go into port for a few hours, I've done this cruise before so there isn't much besides the beach that appeals to me.

Then get back on the ship around 4:30, grab a glass of wine at $12 before heading to my room to get ready for dinner at 5:45, have another 1 or 2 glasses at dinner. Attend a show and have some water, then attend nightlife festivities and probably stick to beer.

I'd estimate 5-6 bottles of water. $17.25 based on your pricing

2 sodas - 5.75

4 beers - 20.70

2 frozen margaritas or similar - 23.00

3 glass of wine - 41.4

Total of: 108.1

In total with a premium package I am getting way more than my moneys worth, as with gratuity its $56 per day. This is in a period of 14 to 15 hours, enough to maintain a buzz throughout the day.

Definitely worth it if you are a drinker!
