I say hello to the crew waiting to greet us, proceed to the main dinning room and have a nice lunch. After that I visit the cabin to see if I can drop off a few things, then explore until the life boat drill. After that I head to the sail away party and enjoy meeting new friends as the view of the port disappears behind us.

On Getaway we headed to the water slides! We plan to do the same on Epic since there are no lines at that time. After doing that a little bit, we will eat, then head to see if the room is ready. We will also get our son signed up for Splash Academy.

we usually try to unpack before muster if at all possible and then we can truly enjoy our first evening on vacation

Eat, explore the decks, wait for muster knowing the casino will be open shortly after that is done and we are on our way......

Define shortly. Out of Tampa it will be at least 4 hours after muster. One of the longest channels of any port. It's about 2 1/4 hours after leaving the port until the ship gets to the Skyway Bridge a must see from the open decks and another hour to clear the channel and then they can open the casino.

Thank you everyone. Where should we eat? Is the buffet going to be a mad house?

Of course!!!! But it is fun!!!! Everyone is (for the most part) in a good mood.

The trick is, find a table FIRST, because you will probably be lugging around your carry on. One of you stay at the table with the "stuff" and the other goes for the food ..then switch!! Otherwise, it is very difficult to be lugging stuff, carrying a tray, trying to load up your plate and THEN walk around with everything looking for a table.

After we board, we check to see if we can get to our cabin. If we can we drop our stuff & get something to eat, preferably anywhere that is not the buffet.

If we can't we look for seats somewhere to hang on to the luggage comfortably, usually the library in cold ports. Then we wait to drop the luggage before going to eat. Eating later means we're just finishing before muster. So we unpack after muster . . . then head to happy hour or sail away, depending on the time.

Somewhere in there I try to find the cabin steward to tell him / her our preferences: we need ice, I love towel animals & on sea days don't even bother trying to deal with the cabin, just let DH sleep.

1. While boarding the ship, confirm the UBP and UDP stickers are on my key.

2. (If on a ship with this) Go directly to Guest services and purchase Vibe Pass.

3. Go to nearest bar and start drinking and meeting up with people.

4. Go on a bar tour of the ship.

5. Muster drill

Can't beat Epic's Plunge, you will love that one!

Haven't been out of Tampa. Only Miami, Galveston, and LA for us so far. :)

Head to the bar above the pool deck, order a bucket of beer and scope out our fellow passengers wandering around. :-) Usually around 1:00, we'll grab a snack.

On other cruises I've interrupted this routine with less than satisfying results:

1. Went to buy the wine package and was held up by someone making a scene about trying to buy the UDP and his wife not being able to drink because of an illness. Buzzkill!

2. Bought a spa package...which I really could've done anytime. What a waste of precious sunlight!

3. Went to a dining presentation because I was hoping there wouldn't be many people and I could win a free dinner. A lot of people were there, so my odds were terrible. Bummer!
