cot427 Posted November 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 19, 2014 I've been tracking flights for my upcoming June cruise and noticed a big price drop in the return flight. It's nonstop which is awesome, but it doesn't leave Fort Lauderdale until 7:55pm. Usually I wouldn't even consider a flight this late, but now in a job with limited vacation days so I might as well make the most of it. So I was wondering if the ships, specifically Oasis, has the program where you pay the extra fee to have them send your luggage directly to the plane for you? I wouldn't mind paying since the airline has a free bag policy and the flight is so late in the day. I kind of remember reading the program doesn't exist anymore, but I wasn't sure if that was ship/port specific or fleetwide? Thanks!
Clarea Posted November 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 19, 2014 The luggage valet program still exists, and I believe it covers flights as late as midnight.

Here is the link to Luggage Valet If your airline participates, then you can sign up once on board. It's $20pp for 2 pieces of checked luggage. If there are any additional airline fees they will be added to your SeaPass account.
volunteer cruiser Posted November 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2014 It may still dependent on airline, 2012 after Allure cruise, Southwest would not accept checkin luggage for flight after 4:00PM, so could not use luggage valet program. Other half of family used Delta and had no problem with using valet program.
cot427 Posted November 19, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Thank you all! I didn't realize it was on Royal's website. I'm looking at Jetblue, but have never known them before. $20pp would be worth it for a late flight.

MKESail Posted November 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 19, 2014 I think I posed this before, on our last New Years cruise on board Indy, I was told several times by Guest Services that they do not offer Luggage Valet. That's when we were on the ship. I did call ahead before the cruise many times and every time I asked the different rep if it was offered and was told that it was. I was counting on that cuz our flight didn't leave til 6 pm and then we basically got stuck with the suitcase. I tried going to Guest Services several times and always got the same answer. Not sure why, may be they just didn't want to have to do it during the holiday cruise as it was so busy. And I have read many reviews before our cruise and after it, where people said they were able to use the valet service on Indy. Just check and double check and triple check, is all I'm saying. Ocean Boy Posted November 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 19, 2014 (edited) When I go into Luggage Valet from the reservation from my upcoming cruise here is what I get... "Luggage Valet If you're sailing out Miami, FL; Los Angeles, CA; or Port Canaveral, FL; you can take advantage of our Luggage Valet service. It allows you to get your boarding passes and luggage checked in before you get to the airport. To use the service, your final destination must be in the U.S. Participating airlines are American, Continental, Delta, and United. You can purchase it while onboard the ship for only $10." This information must be really old as I know it doesn't list all of the participating airlines and the price went up to $20.00 a long time ago. Ft. Lauderdale is not even listed. Why can't RCI get its act together when it comes to information on the website? You would think that a link from a reservation would have up to date information. Edited November 19, 2014 by Ocean Boy

You need to visit GS to sign up for the program and the sooner the better as there is a limit as to the number of people that can sign up.
NolaFireLI Posted November 19, 2014 #18 Share Posted November 19, 2014 I used the Luggage Valet coming off the Oasis this past Saturday and I can not express how PLEASED I am with this service and I recommend it to anyone who can use it and hope they expand upon it's services to more airlines and ports. We were flying on Southwest out of FLL and put our bags out like normal the night before we disembarked. We didn't see the bags again until we were back home and in our own airport. We were already CHECKED in and didn't have to wait in the MASSIVE airport lines and were sitting at our gate waiting for the plane long before others who didn't use the service. Best 20 bucks I spent all week - Especially after all those casino donations!

So you not only didn't see your bags until your home airport after you set them out the last night, you were issued your boarding passes onboard ? When arriving at the airport you only had to go to security and your gate ? Wonderful !! Gerry

I would suggest that if you are flying Southwest, you either take advantage of their Early Bird check-in, or check-in yourself 24 hours before the flight. The reason I mention this is that you have no idea when Royal will actually check you in.

My flight is 12:40 direct to Cincinnati on Delta from FLL. I should be perfect. Thanks Bob. Gerry Edited November 19, 2014 by buckeye rob

You will receive your boarding passes and your luggage valet luggage tags on the last afternoon. You put your bags out like normal and it's painless. Morning of disembarkation, go thru customs with your carry-on, get to the airport and walk straight past the crazy check-in lines. Of course, you still have to go thru TSA, but that line is much faster then check-in! Enjoy your cruise!
Merion_Mom Posted November 19, 2014 #25 Share Posted November 19, 2014 Will do! Does anybody have experience using this service with Jetlbue? I am skipping the next 20 posts to write this response, so I apologize if this is repetitive. I am RIGHT NOW sitting in my lovely CP balcony on the Allure. I happen to have JUST enrolled myself, for the first time, in the Luggage Valet service. My situation/timing is almost identical to yours, except that my airline is Southwest. I get TWO bags free. :). There is no "upper" time limit mentioned. Since you are flying JetBlue, the following won't apply to you, but I thought that I would mention it for others: if you are on both SW and AirTran, you can't use Luggage Valet.
