natalunia Posted June 17, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 17, 2004 I've got pics of my formal night on the Star last May. I hope to have my pics from formal night on my cruise last month this week. They're in my webshots gallery in my signature. agodfrey Posted June 17, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted June 17, 2004 Thank you guys so much! Great pics, both of you. I can't wait. Seems like it's taking forever to get here. Before booking the cruise, I didn't even know there was a dress code, so I'm really glad I found these boards!
jp2001 Posted June 18, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2004 I've seen many nice dresses in my life but, Natalie, yours is my favorite one! wantacruise Posted June 18, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2004 Here is a picture from my recent cruise. There isn't a full length of my formal but, you can see most of the upper part of it. It doesn't show in the picture but, the bottom material is really the same color as the top--looks different colors when moving or depending on the light. Hope it helps. cpzcruisenewbie Posted June 26, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 26, 2004 Here is a link to our cruise photos. http://www.ofoto.com/BrowsePhotos.jsp?&collid=373881895103 There are pictures of us in our casual wear, semi-formal, and formal. Unfortunately, you can't see the bottoms of any of the formals, so if you look at the photos where my husband is in a tuxedo with a white collar shirt and long tie, the only full-length skirt I had was with the floral beaded top. The skirt is long taffeta with beads on the bottom. My other formal outfits were (1) a black halter neck cocktail dress and (2) a black taffeta skirt with a black silk shell. I dressed that up with strappy sandals and pink heirloom-style costume jewelry. Choosing what to wear for formal night is tough because many people prefer to wear long gowns every chance they get - I kinda like it too! But I didn't want to buy a bunch of formal wear that I couldn't use for other events too, like work holiday parties, weddings, etc. So I went with cocktail length and I was absolutely fine with my DH in a tux and was fine compared to the otherpassengers. Wear what makes you feel pretty and comfortable! And have a wonderful cruise!

GolfingDV Posted June 28, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 28, 2004 If you are going on a Carnival ship, you see everything from Tux and long dresses to siuts and party dresses. You can't go wrong with a black suit and different shirts/ties for the two formal nights.
MoonBaby Posted June 28, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 28, 2004 Funny story about our last cruise: We sat at a table with 2 other lovely couples. One couple was married (I think! would be rude to ask! lol). The other couple...the girlfriend forgot to tell her s/o to bring a suit jacket! And they wouldn't dream of going to the supper club or formal nights not dressed right. They even tried to rent a tux but nothing in his size was available. The first formal night, they had dinner on their balcony. The man called down and said his girlfriend was not feeling well, and could he come down to the dining room and pick up their dinners? Was told yes and what was on the menu, so he came down and picked up the great formal night dinners and they dined on their balcony. That worked out well, but what do do about the other formal night? Well, I had packed an extra suit jacket for my hubby to wear in the supper club, so we invited them up to see if it fit the man. They came up and it fit! (They also drooled over our cat 11 suite with the wrap around balcony!) They tried to get into Nick and Nora's but their was a waiting list, so they had their names added to the list. The second formal night came around and they didn't show up! At the end of our meal, they came into the dining room and told us the supper club had called, and they had just had a fabulous dinner there, and returned the jacket. I bet she never forgets to tell him what to pack again!
