macubs Posted November 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2014 Hi I have never been on a cruise but am going solo this weekend. I wondered if single passengers are welcome and also how do you make yourself known to other friends of Bill W?
Floridiana Posted November 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2014 Don't worry, relax. There are always singles on cruises. On all the ships I have been Friends of Bill W meeting times and places were printed in the daily program. If not on your ship, ask at the reception. paul929207 Posted November 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2014 Singles are welcome. Most cruises have a get together the first day or two for singles to get to meet each other. You will get a daily event schedule, read thru it and attend those that appeal to you. In some you will find people joining teams and looking for one or more to join them. For instance, trivia is usually for teams of up to 6. There are always people looking for others to join. You don't have to know anything.
bbeltmom Posted November 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2014 Make sure you have joined your sailings roll call and register for the CC Meet and Mingle. I would recommend a traditional fixed seating in the MDR with a larger table. If you haven't already requested this, see the Maitre'd when you board. Participate in the different activities. Have a fabulous time!
I_heart_vaca Posted November 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2014 I was just on the Summit and the Friends of Bill W meeting was posted in the dailies, for our ship it was every day at 5pm in the 9th floor library. Whlie I went with a friend, we have seperate interest so I did a lot of the activities and tours on my own. I met great people and had lots of fun. A few of them I am even keeping in touch with. Its amazing that on a large ship you tend to see the same people (I guess people who like the same things tend to end up the same places). I would go again tomorrow, even if I had to do it on my own. Have a blast!
evandbob Posted November 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 21, 2014 Hi I have never been on a cruise but am going solo this weekend. I wondered if single passengers are welcome and also how do you make yourself known to other friends of Bill W? If for some reason singles or F.Of Bill meetings aren't posted in the daily list of activities, check near the excursion or guest services desk. It may have been Celebrity where that was listed instead. Make friends, get room #'s for support and make sure you can call cabin to cabin and leave messages if necessary. Have fun and enjoy! Rare Scrapnana Posted November 21, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 21, 2014 Welcome to Cruise Critic! I love cruising solo - you can interact with others as much as you want when you want. It is easy to meet people but you don't have to share your limited cabin space with anyone. Enjoy!
Calgon1 Posted November 26, 2014 #8 Share Posted November 26, 2014 . . . For instance, trivia is usually for teams of up to 6. There are always people looking for others to join. You don't have to know anything. Well, I suppose that explains why I am so popular !

AmazedByCruising Posted December 4, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2014 Who is Bill W? It's code language for a meeting of people supporting each other trying not to drink alcohol. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1253568
