newlondon Posted November 28, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I buy the Cote de Rhone Beauchene at home as I find it delicious for a lower price wine. We have never had a problem finding a better than drinkable wine if you engage the sommelier and have patience.

DeepFreeze63 Posted December 3, 2014 #29 Share Posted December 3, 2014 The premier Wine list (loose) is in the cabin in the info book. Maybe some can have it scanned in to this thread. PaulaJK Posted December 3, 2014 #30 Share Posted December 3, 2014 I do not choose my cruise line for any ONE factor...but yes, when various categories are 'included' in the price, this does become part of my deciding process. Therefore, yes, wines do count!!! And I am paying for them.

gwain6 Posted December 5, 2014 #39 Share Posted December 5, 2014 Not a problem!! Glad I could help If you are interested in purchasing on board, one of the "events" to look out for is an organised wine tasting as they usually discount some of the wines. This usually occurs early on the cruise, so that they can "move" the connoisseur wines, but you may find a reasonable deal or two. Also, don't forget if you are in a concierge suite or better you get a 10% discount. My tip is meet the Cellar Master and let them know what you like, they can usually point you in the right direction. Also, the Sommeliers in each of the restaurants are pretty helpful as well! Some of those French wines Are well priced, for the locale. If you can wait a day or two, I suggest you attend the organised tasting, you will get a better price!! If the wine you want is not listed on the discounted list, you can always ask the Cellar Master if they could do a better price for you, you never know if you don't ask. We were served the Pouilly Fuisse in Compass Rose two nights ago on Navigator, perhaps because there is no Signatures on Navigator. And, yes, it's very nice. That night was also the first appearance of the Penfold Koonamunga Shiraz/Cabernet blend in Compass Rose. Unfortunately, it was the last night of the cruise. Your last point illustrates why Regent should let passengers have a list of the complimentary wines early on in the cruise. It is such a pity you were served a wine you liked on your last night. If you had had the list you could have enjoyed it earlier and more often.
Travelcat2 Posted December 18, 2014 #47 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Having just been on Oceania's Riviera where all of the wines included in their alcohol and wine packages are not only available in the restaurants but are right there for easy access. Unlike Regent, they do not have to go downstairs (or wherever they go) to fetch a bottle of wine. While this is fast and convenient for passengers, there is a definite downside. The included wine list is very limited -- perhaps 25% of the number of wines that Regent has on their list therefore making it difficult, if not impossible, to have all choices on hand at every lunch and dinner in CR and lunch in La Veranda. IMO, the only way Regent could give out an included wine list is to cut the choices at least in half so they can store them close enough to the restaurant to enable sommeliers to access them. As I think I posted earlier, perhaps a compromise solution would be to offer 3 red and 3 white wines every day instead of 1. On the other hand, I can find problems with my suggestion solution.

It is such a pity you were served a wine you liked on your last night. If you had had the list you could have enjoyed it earlier and more often. Regent did give us the list--or most of it--at a tasting on the second or third day of the cruise. But neither the Pouilly Fuisse nor the Penfold's was on the list With the tastings--there was a second during the last week of the cruise--you could see which wines were to your taste and avoid the others. I'd say it was about 50% in each category to my taste. Never a problem, however, getting what I asked for.
Sunprince Posted December 19, 2014 #49 Share Posted December 19, 2014 Despite all explanations and excuses, I have been to many small restaurants with limited space that have extensive wine lists. IMO, there is no excuse for a luxury line not to give you the options. I recently read that on Silversea, the waiters now take orders on tablets, with your photos and preferences. They also provide the included wine list. So all you need to do is add your fav wine to your profile and your server will know it when they serve you. To me this is a very smart and customer friendly way to go!

To me this is a very smart and customer friendly way to go! It is very smart and definitely the way things will be done everywhere -- soon. However, in terms of Silversea (which we have sailed on three times), I wish they would spend the money that they are putting into used ships and tablets into their ships (sorely in need of refurbishment). In your experience, how long does it take for wine to be delivered to your table at night? Also, is the wine list as comprehensive as Regent's? When we have been on Silversea, we have not asked for specific wines -- it would be interesting to know if they have their entire collection in the MDR as well as La Terrazza. It should also be noted that Silversea's ships carry approximately 300, 400, and 450 passengers vs. Regent's 490 and 700. I guess I'm trying to imagine 400 passengers in CR, asking for one of 30 or 40 wines and how they could be served in a reasonable amount of time. Note: While I respect your comment about restaurants, IMO, it would be easy for a very small restaurant to have a small wine cellar that has every wine available while Regent is serving La Veranda (Deck 10 or 11) and CR, Deck 5, 6, or 7 (sorry, I do not have a deck map in front of me). In addition, I suppose that passengers in P-7 and Signatures may ask for wines that are not on their menu. Definitely not making excuses for Regent -- just looking of the logistics of what is being requested.
