Natmom Posted November 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Hello, DH and I are taking a cruise (no kids) to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. I plan on booking a private island tour but we would like to browse around after. Which is nicer downtown Charlotte Amalie or Cruz bay? I'm not looking to shop like crazy , just browse around, have a drink. The photos of downtown with the cobblstone streets looks nice and dh would like that, but We have never been. I would love input from people who have been there
Ms411 Posted November 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Cruz Bay is on St John, not St Thomas. You would have to get to St John by boat.
O2B@Cagain Posted November 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Charlotte Amalie has a more historic feel. It has old alleys, buildings, and step streets. Most of Cruz Bay has been built in the last 15 years.
Natmom Posted November 30, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted November 30, 2014 Okay, thanks to both of you :) We are docked at crown bay, if we decide to go to Cruz bay is it easy to get a boat to St.johns?
Ms411 Posted November 30, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2014 To get to St John you either have to take a ship excursion or take a taxi to the Red Hook ferry dock. There are several detailed threads about getting to St John from the cruise ship.
