Ft. Lauderdale Travel Advice Needed

Cruising out of Fort Lauderdale on the Independence in Feb. We're flying down a day early. So does anyone have any advice on travels? Like what is the best deal as far as which Airport, hotel, shuttle to & from...There will only be 3 or 4 of us this time so a cab, shuttle, rental car anything is doable. We've cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale a few times but was wondering if there is any advice on the best way. Thanks

So we have been out of Port Everglades twice. First time I booked us a room at the Econo Lodge since I am Choice Hotel subscriber. Not a great place, small but provides free shuttle, which is through quality suites nearby.

Second time we stayed at the Rodeway Inn & Suites. They will pick you up at airport if you fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and provide shuttle to the port in the morning. Both are free, they suggest tipping the driver of coarse. They are set up for cruiser, restaurant on site that's good. Friendly service and a bit like going to a summer camp since they greet the shuttles with a guide to get you checked in, get you fed. The overhead narrative is comical at times. Check out the link below.

We have stayed at several hotels in the FLL area pre-cruise, but our best experience has been at the Comfort Inn Airport Cruiseport on S. Federal Hwy. in FLL.

They provide a free shuttle from the airport and to the cruise port, as well as free breakfast and wifi. The staff were amazing and the hotel is near several walkable restaurants. Hope this helps.

Im staying at Residence Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port this Friday night before our cruise on Oasis on Saturday. It is brand new and includes transportation from airport. Free breakfast, free internet, per friendly if needed, they have kitchens in suites.

We stay at the Hyatt Place on 17th St, booked through Valutrips ( cheaper ).

They have a free airport shuttle. Shuttle to the port costs $7 each.

They offer a free continental buffet breakfast. It is a couple of doors

away from an Outback restaurant. There is a Publix supermarket and liquor store in the strip mall behind/across the road. It is on the HOHO bus route, you can flag down the trolley and ride around town or down to the beach.

The hotel shuttle van will take you anywhere within 10 miles and pick you up

in the evenings...

We fly in the night (or 2 before) and I always Hotwire a hotel (can specifiy you need 2 beds that way) somewhere near the airport, port or beach. We've won the Crowne Plaza last 2 years for about $99/night. We've won the Gallery One in years past as well as the Westin Beach. The Crowne has a shuttle which we've taken to the hotel. If there a full day we rent a car and return it the night before and taxi to port (about $12/taxi).

Above posted Rodeway inn, I would strongly suggestion you not stay there. We did once and it was a nightmare. The free shuttle is not normally free sometimes you have to pay a $2 fee to take a shuttle to the cruise port

We have stayed at the Best Western on 1221 W State Rd 84, Fort Lauderdale two times and had good luck with them. There is alot of places to eat and there is a grocery store and a liquor store within a 2-3 min walk. Rooms there are good and clean

We are staying @ Embassy Suites (pre-cruise). Are there any restaurants that you can watch cruise ships sail out? Thanks for your help

The ships do not sail by any restaurants, but you can watch them sail out in the distance at any of the Ft Lauderdale beachfront restaurants. Oasis is close, so the ships will look big from there.
