Disney Dream seems to be waiting outside the port.

Cruise ship coming into Port Canaveral late. Disney Dream seems to be waiting outside the port. I went to the beach and could see a cruise ship in a waiting positing in the ocean. The reason for this is that there is a rocket launch that is on hold. There is a zone that the ship can not be in when a launch it about to happen. I think the window for the launch is to 9:44AM. I did check the port cam and they say it is the Dream

Regardless of the ship--this is a really good example of why people shouldn't try to book early flights after a cruise.

Sorry, don't see how this is an example. The Dream isn't scheduled to be in port today. So no one is missing any flights.

Currently the Dream is moving away from PC at a rate of 10.5 knots. Probably going out to run a big circle for her sea day.

Did you notice the "regardless of the ship" part? My point is that it's foolish to plan 9:30 am flights, because you never know what could hold you up. Anyone on that ship (regardless of the line) with a flight out of MCO at noon or later should make it--barely, but make it.

OK, Why was the Dream there if not a port day?

The Dream was not in port. She was outside the port entrance area. Speculation is that she arrived early (today is a sea day, between Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral) so that the rocket launch from Cape Canaveral could be watched.

She will probably just do big circles today for her sea day, is my guess.

And the Explorer delayed her arrival into PC by two hours so she could be in the channel when the launch went up. Unfortunately, that strategy backfired since the launch was scrubbed, but she tied up to the pier almost 3 hours later than normal. Anyone on a 9:30 flight this morning off of Explorer would have been SOL. On launch days, the 528 becomes a 20 mile long parking lot;)

If everyone would read the entire thread, we would not be talking past each other.

The advice about early flights is good advice. That has nothing to do with today's events, as the Dream was not coming into port. The fact that it was outside the port simply means it was outside the port, not that it was coming into port. Today is a sea day, it will come into port tomorrow for disembarkation of current passengers. The launch did not "delay it" or cause people to miss flights.

That being said, the launch was likely the reason it was so close, to give passengers a potential view. Launch was called off, view was missed, and viola! sea day continues. As of 19:50 UTC, it was steaming due east, and was about 60 miles offshore. It is next scheduled in port tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 5, 2014.

Oddly it was not backed up today. The typical viewing spots were all but empty.

We've been on 2 cruises when the captain announced on board that he was going to try to be as close to port as possible to see a launch. Unfortunately, both were scrubbed. However, we were able to see a shuttle launch from WDW on one long ago trip.

Most likely, the Dream was near port to get the best possible view. Sorry it didn't work out for them.

We were on The Dream when the ship was positioned closer to port for a launch viewing on Thurs. morning. It was rescheduled several times before finally being scrubbed. After that, we headed back out to sea. The launch was set again for Friday 7 AM. My son-in-law missed our 6:45 AM breakfast in Animator's Palate to watch it on deck 12 at 7:00 AM. Pretty cool!
