G'day shipmates. Now next year Uncle Les is stopping over in HK for 3 nights after his adventures in UK and P&O UK cruises.

Trawling the websites it is mind blowing the number of HK hotels. Can anybody recommend a good one they have stayed in?

Thanks in anticipation. Edited by NSWP

Les, we stayed at the Hotel Panorama by Rhombus in Kowloon a few months ago. Def a hotel we would book again. We opted for the Club Harbourview room. This was spectacular. Large room, clean and views to die for. The club rooms include a 'happy hour', which goes for quite a few hours, and the nibblies provided sufficed us well and truly for dinner each night. Also included the buffet breakfast which was above average. On the top floor of this hotel is a great open air viewing point for the light show, or to sit and relax and exjoy more views across the harbour. If you email them they will offer you a good/better price than anywhere on the net. We found this out after we had booked, but friends took up their offer. Plenty of eating places very close by, including Maccas which DH wanted after a few days. The underground train station is also just up on the next corner, say a 1 minute walk. Modern hotel, easy access, and just far enough away from the noise of Nathan Road.....but safe and lots of people around at all times of night.
Most cruisers will opt for the Salisbury, but we wanted a bit more luxury for same price. Rooms are larger than most HK hotels. Highly recommend.

[SIZE="2"]Thats so true about HK hotels. We stayed in the Kowloon Hotel , a business style hotel behind the Peninsula. Great position and reasonable price. ......but the rooms were so so tiny we had to walk sideways between the end of the bed and the wall. The Salisbury (YMCA) was across the road and we had the buffet breakfast there each morning.
The Kowloonl area is a great location for Hong Kong.

Hi, Have tried lots of them over the past 40 years in Business in HK/Kowloon ,And have now finally decided that the "Sheraton" (opp. The Peninsula) has "The Position, Position , Position." And that suits us perfectly ,and has now been our choice for the last few years. Best of luck with your choice,

We stayed for five nights at The Salisbury YMCA in early November. We paid AUD200/night for partial harbour view. We watched the Star ships going out and coming from our bed. Location is fantastic, especially if you are joining or leaving a ship berthed at Ocean City. Bus for Airport Express right across the road behind the Peninsula. We recommend highly.
