GreenValleyDogWalker Posted December 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2014 We will be on the Dawn - an "at sea" day (departing NOLA on the 11th - on the way to Cozumel on the 13th) on January 12th - the day that the College Football Championship Game is scheduled to be played in Texas - to be televised on ESPN Where will the game be televised on the ship ? Will there be any kind of a "bowl party" ? Thanks
bean24 Posted December 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2014 We were on the Dawn a few years ago and they showed the game. Had football food ( wings, nachos etc) and even had boxes in the casino. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

calex Posted December 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Being a die hard University of Oregon Duck fan, I was hoping to see a good NCAA football game on board the Star a couple of weeks ago. Knowing the game was on ESPN, I tuned on the game, but I found a screen on ESPN that stated the current program was BLACKED OUT. Fifteen minutes later when I checked again, an European Futball (soccer) game was being broadcast. When I asked the Hotel Director about the lack of American College Football available on board the ship, he was somewhat surprised that there was so much passion for college football. Since the satellite TV broadcast subscriptions are managed by the central office, he recommended contacting the NCL Corporate Office in Miami and lobby for NCAA Football. That is good to hear the NCAA playoffs have been broadcast in the past, but don't assume they will be available... the more posts NCL sees on their Facebook site asking if NCAA College Football playoffs will be available onboard will increase the likelihood that you will be able to enjoy seeing the OREGON DUCKS win it all. pathubia Posted December 12, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 12, 2014 We were on the Dawn in May and October. They carried NFL games in Pearly Kings on Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights. That also where they showed MLB games. That probably where they will have the bowl games.
Leafpeeper Posted December 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 13, 2014 Super Bowl was in the Atrium on a jumbo screen and in King Pearly's Pub. Also on cabin tv. A few years ago, I booked a cruise not knowing our Patriots wud b in the Superbowl with an undefeated season. What were the odds that I'd b on the same cruise from NY when they Giants beat the Patriots in the final minute of the game a second time? When We drove by Giant Stadium, I told DH I had a superstitious feeling the Patriots were gonna lose. Guess what cruise I am booked on this year? My friends think I am a jinx. They want me to cancel my cruise. No way. After all, it's only a football game!!! It's Denver's turn to feel the agony of defeat by Seattle AGAIN!!! My sister happens to live in Seattle. Enjoy your game.
